20 Classic Actors Whose Movies I Want to See

Jul 01, 2010 18:53

Here is a list of some actors whose movies I have somehow never watched, not including cameos (Linda Darnell's as the Virgin Mary in The Song of Bernadette), or movies I have tried to watch but as yet have been unable to finish (Citizen Kane). Also there are some people whose movies have never watched, like Rock Hudson, that I am perfectly fine ( Read more... )

Laura, LJ-cut Please! < lj - cut > before the post (without spaces) and < /lj - cut > after the post (without spaces).

Admittedly, I haven't seen many films by them, but I have at least seen a few things by them.

Grace Kelly

- You MUST watch Rear Window. It's THE most suspenseful movie EVER. Seriously. Tot and I could not sit down, we had to stand and pace, we were so wired watching it. I've also seen High Society. I WANT to watch The Swan, but it's a major bitch to find.

Fred Astaire

- The ones I've seen -- Top Hat, Silk Stockings, Finian's Rainbow -- I'd go with Top Hat.

Rita Hayworth (!?!?)

- Gilda and Cover Girl. I just can't believe you haven't seen Gilda!!!

Orson Welles

- I did finish Citizen Kane, but yeah, boooring.

Marlene Deitrich rubs me the wrong way, thus I haven't seen her movies deliberately. #5 (her) through #13, I've never seen their films.

Bing Crosby (You never saw any of the Hope/Crosby films? I grew up on those).

- Road to Singapore, Road to Zanzibar, Road to Morocco, Road to Utopia, and I' ( ... )

All of your post -- all those images, the length of it -- should be behind a cut. Go to my lj. See the links that allow you to click on them, those are cuts. It's basically a link INSIDE your journal so that your friends list isn't loooooooooooooooong posts. General LJ netiquette is if you have big pictures, more than 2 pictures, more than 2 paragraphs, you put it behind a cut. Scroll through my flist ( here) until you get to your post. You'll see what I mean. :)

I'd like to do a friending meme on my lj that will include stuff about older movies/stars, etc. And you could probably get some other lj friends from that.

Here's the LJ FAQ on lj-cuts -- http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=75

Also, it's funny because when I looked up Grace Kelly's movies and read about The Swan, I thought, "Dang! I want to watch that one!" My library has it on VHS but I don't have a VCR right now. It does have a lot of the other ones I need to watch, though.

Start with Rear Window. Definitely.

I've now seen Rear Window, To Catch a Thief, and I'm almost done with High Society, which takes care of Grace Kelly and Bing Crosby, I saw Shall We Dance with Fred Astaire (& Ginger Rogers), Touch of Evil with Orson Welles & Marlene Dietrich (but she's barely in it), I've got Unfaithfully Yours (Linda Darnell) to watch this weekend and I've got two Mifune movies on hold at the library ( ... )

Rear Window is just AMAZING. The most suspenseful film I've ever seen, and I was salivating over Grace Kelly's wardrobe, LOL!
