Here is a list of some actors whose movies I have somehow never watched, not including cameos (Linda Darnell's as the Virgin Mary in The Song of Bernadette), or movies I have tried to watch but as yet have been unable to finish (Citizen Kane). Also there are some people whose movies have never watched, like Rock Hudson, that I am perfectly fine ( Read more... )

I've now seen Rear Window, To Catch a Thief, and I'm almost done with High Society, which takes care of Grace Kelly and Bing Crosby, I saw Shall We Dance with Fred Astaire (& Ginger Rogers), Touch of Evil with Orson Welles & Marlene Dietrich (but she's barely in it), I've got Unfaithfully Yours (Linda Darnell) to watch this weekend and I've got two Mifune movies on hold at the library.

Loved Rear Window! I liked To Catch a Thief, High Society I'm not really loving (due to 50s attitudes about things, mostly), I liked Shall We Dance: Astaire and Rogers were just incredible and there was a scene where Harriet Hoctor (a famous ballerina) danced and ooooh my lord I would sell my soul to be able to dance like her. I watched the dance sequences several times. Touch of Evil was a great noir, Charlton Heston was made up to be a Mexican (lol), Orson Welles was very large and in charge, and Janet Leigh's character seemed like she was racist even though she's newly married to Mexican Charlton Heston. His name is Miguel; she calls him Mike. She meets a random Mexican guy and calls him "Pancho" like they called Stephen Rea "Pat" in The Crying Game. So she was irritating, but it was great other than that. I have to say Orson Welles is one of the few directors that I actually notice the direction, in a good way, and in more than just eliciting good performances from the actors.

Rear Window is just AMAZING. The most suspenseful film I've ever seen, and I was salivating over Grace Kelly's wardrobe, LOL!
