Ok, I guess it is about time to update.
Last Thursday I got up and left Columbus around 6:15AM. The drive wasn't too bad...8 hours, but the weather was amazing. West VA doesn't get cell reception though, so it was kind of a lonely drive.
Once I got to Richmond, I stopped at Ukrops to get some stuff for Kerry and then to Moe's to get lunch. I drove onto campus and almost cried because I was so happy. I stopped by Ryland and talked with Dr. Jones, Dr. Larkin, Dr. Marx and Dr. Hilliard. Afterwards, I headed over to the Deanery and saw everyone there (Betty, Karryn, Kathy, Angie). I waited for Kerry to get there and surprised her by sitting in her office. She screamed when she opened the door and I was just there (I had moved my car so it wasn't near the Deanery). We caught up a little and then headed out to her house. I chilled with the dogs and Bob while she ran an errand and then we went to dinner at O'Charley's with Shannon. It was so great to catch up. That night, we just talked for a little bit and then Kerry went to bed. I did some work and then passed out around 11.
Friday morning, I got up, got ready, said goodbye to Bob and headed to campus. I stopped at Sheetz to get my car washed, get gas and get a schmagel. mmmmm it was so good. After that, I drove to campus. First I went to the commons and walked around and decided to head back up to the academic side. I didn't see anyone else so I trekked over to Whitehurst and chilled in the RC Dean's office. After about an hour, I snuck into Robins (to check out the renovations...very nice), saw Devin and then headed to Wood. It was surreal to be there, but I was holding myself together until I saw Louda (my old housekeeper). I cried when she got so excited to see me and gave me a big hug.
Then I decided to go over to North to the Women in the Know conference. Kerry organized it, so I saw the Deanery people again, Dean Landphair and Dr. Goldberg. I hung out for a little part of their lunch and then went to Carytown Burger and Fries to get my own food. Man, I missed that place. I did some more reading too.
Once back on campus, I stopped by South to catch Andrew, but he didn't answer his door. Then I hit up the apartments, where I saw Godfrey, Lindsey, Stacy, David and Suezy. I tried to find Nina, but she wasn't there. I saw Dr. Mayes and Dr. Covitz. I got in touch with Lili and headed back to Wood to see her (she wasn't there the first time around). We caught up until it was time for me to get Kerry and Angie again. The three of us went to the Tavern for a light dinner/a drink. Once we were back on campus, I sped over to the Robins Center to meet up with Beth Ann for the Yellowcard/Acceptance/Pink Spiders show. I was running late, but that ended up being beneficial because Beth Ann then got backstage passes for us from Y101. So we met Yellowcard, holler. I had met them before, but this was great too :D
The show rocked. I saw so many people too. In addition to Beth Ann, I saw Allison, Marie, Godfrey, Christin, Matt D, Jess (my old resident!), Jared and Kevin. I spent most of the Yellowcard set squished between Kevin, Jared and Beth Ann. Good times.
After the show, I left campus to go to Johanna's. I broke down in tears in the car. I love OSU, but I miss Richmond sometimes. 3 months just can't compare to 4 years.
It was so great to see Jo! We were wearing matching clothes too. Heh. But we hung out, talked and then decided to go downtown. We went to Empire first and then Ipanema. Had a couple drinks, talked alot and came back to fall asleep to Sex and the City.
The next morning, we got up, got ready and went to Galaxy for brunch. Sooooo good. I love that place. It was such a beautiful day too. We walked down to Plan9 and bought some DVDs. I got a used copy of Dodgeball for $10. I wanted to see the Adcenter, so Johanna gave me a brief tour. It looks awesome; I can see why she loves it so much.
After I said my goodbyes, I headed to tailgate for a little bit. I just wanted to see people and pick up Kim. I saw Fro, Amanda C., Nicole, Kim (obviously), T.R., Jared (again), Erin, Steph, Danielle, Kiel, Marthia, Jamaal, Jermaine, Baker, Adrian etc. etc. Kim and I then left to go to Short Pump.
At Short Pump, we did some shopping, hung out some more and Nicole met up with us. I left them after a little while to go see Beth. I showed up at her apartment, met her puppy and then we went to Superstars for dinner. I love catching up with her. We talked for a looooong time and then I took her back.
I swung by campus one last time trying to catch the few people I kept missing, but to no avail. I headed to Getty, bought a bottle of Boones and then went to Shyla and Emily's. We chilled, hung out, talked and then finally Shyla and I got ready to go out. Her friend Missy picked us up and we all went downtown. While in line at Europa, I saw Ally, Erika, Angela, Matt P., Drew, Mitch, Megan, Annie, LADI!, Kim M., Kicak etc. Once inside I saw Cailin, Charissa, Cox, Fro, Andrew F. (!), Holly, Laura C., Bailey, Emily C. (eventually!), Ryan, Adam S., Beth again, etc. I'm sure I saw more people, but it's been a week and I keep forgetting.
So that night I slept in Shyla's bed with the dog they were dog-sitting for. I got up fairly early, packed up, did one more drive-thru of campus and was on the road (after another schmagel stop). I made it back in good time.
I also broke up with Joe on the drive home. We had a really good talk and we are on the best terms possible. It's for the best and I'm happy with it :)
The special visitor comes tomorrow. hehe.
I have way too much work for the next 3 weeks.
