So I did a thing and was an extra for an indie movie that was filming here in Fayetteville in June and after my 35th birthday, I got to be an extra on an upcoming series on Fox down in Wilmington!
At the June taping I started the day by arriving on set and meeting the other actors and extras. One of the actors give me some great advice on learning Uta Hagen acting method content.
The July taping, I arrived the evening prior and spent the early part of the next day shopping around for the wardrobe so I didn't get to go to the beach. Interestingly enough it's my first time in Wilmington. So I was shuttled with the other extras to the "base camp" where we filled out the wage forms, and were getting our wardrobe inspected. We had arrived to the station "camera ready" and I'm glad they accepted what I was able to find from 5 stores. After going through the hair/makeup stations, they shuttled us to the main set in an expensive looking neighborhood.
The scene was one of those summer night parties and as members of the elite social clubs, we were to be having the time of our lives thanks to our host (one of the show's main cast members). I think we all did a good job of setting up an atmosphere of community and fun naturally.
At work we are going through some massive changes. The powers that be have identified the building as the perfect place for the one stop center for students to receive assistance for things (understandable) but that means they are having to consolidate the library to do so (scary).
My area also changed too and I'm starting to see I do have a lot more space to put things up on the shelves they are bringing from the areas being converted into other (non)-library departments.
Classes began yesterday and I'm happy to say that this is my final semester as an undergrad. I am taking two courses in subjects that compliment each other and that I can take not just for necessity but for fun! I'll be taking History 323: Oral History (Methods) and COMM 255: Introduction to Video Production.
I'll be doing a better job updating my LJ in the future...
