Pan Am Trials!

(They were a few weeks ago now, but I keep forgetting to write about them...)

I wrote my last final the Monday before, so I was free to celebrate the end of school by diving all day, all week long. And it was so. Amazing. I can't remember the last time I had so much fun diving.

I dive better when there are really good divers around; somehow it makes me bring my game. So all week long I was just on fire! And after awhile I wasn't even starstruck anymore by the big names.

And then the event went really well. I had an easier list than most people--all tuck options instead of pike--but Boxi's plan to go with the safer dives paid off, because lots of people let their nerves get to them and ended up being really inconsistent. There were a lot of 4 1/2s, and I don't think I got anything lower than a 5. For me of all people to be the one who is most consistent and least affected by nerves is just...contrary to the nature of the universe.

But it resulted in my actually making the final! I was not expecting that AT ALL! I was planning to be done by lunchtime, but then I ended up having to dive again that afternoon. I kinda wasn't ready for it, but it turned out okay. I ended up in 11th place, which, after a week that amazing, was totally icing on the cake.

And watching all the other events was...wow. Alex is amazing. Seriously, every time he does a dive I have no idea how to react because it's just too perfect. He is enough to make someone believe in God, because there is no way someone could be like that without divine diving intervention. GAH.

I love senior level meets. I am so sad that it's over now... *tear*

(I am also thoroughly annoyed that they decided to cut 1m and synchro from nationals! What the hell!)
