R.I.P The King of Pop

Jun 29, 2009 02:27

Michael Jackson passed away this past Thursday and I am kind of still reeling. At first, I really wanted it to be some sort of hoax. I hope I don't get the same slack Perez Hilton got for saying that. But then again, he's a prick. Never understood why people liked him in the first place. But this is not the time for that.

If it wasn't for the King of Pop, I wouldn't have strive to be a good singer. While some of you say that wasn't it show tunes that got me into singing, you are all wrong. I tried to emulate MJ in the shower and any chance I got. He was kind of like my personal voice coach. Well, at least in my head he was. A lot of the musicians I respect for their vocal talents name him as an influence. So, my musical drive really does flow back to him.

Despite his personal life, which as a Jackson fan I find reprehensible, he did more than sell a butt load of records and win record breaking amount of rewards. He was a humanitarian. Many people forget about all of the charity work he did. I know I will get flack responding here. But I guess at the end of the day, I can't forget how hearing him sing inspired me to want to sing. Knowing what he did for charity made me want to give to. I don't know. Its hard to forget the molestation thing, but its also hard to forget what made me like him in the first place.

My favorite Jackson songs of all time. Maybe I'll explain why another time.
