Sex On Ice-Wednesday's Kings vs. Penguins Game

Nov 03, 2006 23:04

Warning... A super long entry along w/ 72 pix... 56K beware... Two different entries have to be posted or otherwise I'd be killing your eyes and your computers... Still worth czeching out... ;)

Anyhow...

Pregame: It was pretty much explained a couple entries or so ago, but after I posted, I worked more on the calendar booklet before turning it in. Then I picked up enemyisyou from the bus stop and we got pregame meal at Del Taco. While waiting for puckplayer42, I was doing some laundry and last minute packing and stuff. Once he got to my house, we left for Staples Center for the game.

We got to Staples Center early enough to claim our spots for the warm ups. Since we couldn't go down to the ice level yet, we walked around and even shopped at Team LA. puckplayer42 got me a long limbed stuffed cow and I ended up calling him "Cowboy Cowan" after Jeff Cowan. Soon after, we finally went down the ice level, on the Penguins side, since I wanted to take some Penguins pix. Afterall, all thanx to the crappy NHL scheduling, I only get to see the Pens in L.A. once every 2 years. Then mademoisellenat calls me and she was on the other side of the glass. Then she finally got to our section just in time for the pregame skate. We took lots and lots of pix... Prolly over 100. In all it was so great to see the Penguins on the ice. ;)

1st period: The moment I saw Dan Cloutier on goal, I knew the Kings were done and toast. No offense to Clouts or anything, but he hasn't been playing well. He's still shaking off all of the rust from last season. To e honest w/ you, Mathieu Garon has been playing better and winning more games than him. The guys behind us kept yelling at Clouts, telling him that he sucks and Garon should be on goal. Cammy scores right away (25 seconds after the puck drops) for the Kings making it 1-0. Soon after, Jordan Staal scored for the Pens. The Kings kept out shooting the Pens and they'd go back and forth at each other's zones, shooting the puck in the nets. Then a few minutes later Evgeni Malkin scores for the Pens, making it 2-1. Wowzers, that kid is AMAZING!!!

1st Intermission: We didn't do much except go to Team LA. By then we had saw mademoisellenat and she was complaining about the people in her section. So we invited her to sit w/ us for the rest of the game. Then I had to switch jerseys, from my 3rd jersey to my Cammy jersey (thanx everyone for taking the poll-I ended up taking both jerseys to the game).

2nd period: Ugh! I hate when time flies by during intermission. I had missed parts of it including Brownie's game tying goal. Then Blakey scores for the King making it 3-2. Blakey had some good plays, and he's slowly redeeming himself.

3rd period: Since our row was pretty much full and puckplayer42 and I were separated, we found another section full of empty seats, so we ended up moving there. The period was getting a bit boring, the same ol' going back and forth constantly shooting at each other's nets. At least neither the Kings nor the Pens were slippin' sliding around. Then w/ 7:47 left in the game, Noah Welch scores for the Pens, tying the game. It was like that the rest of the game, forcing overttime.

OT: Kings get screwed over by the refs... Matti takes a penalty. Malking scores for the Pens, winning 5-4. Malkin w/ 2 goals... Sidney Crosby w/ 3 assists... Anze Kotipar had no points, but still had some spetacular moves and plays, even if the Pens went after him a lot. Oh... 1st period, I thought Cammy and Sid would get into a fight. I know they and a few Kings and Pens roughed it up a bit.

2006 Sex On Ice Winners = Penguins

Although a Kings win would've been nice, I was feeling indifferent/even happy for the Penguins win. Had it been last year's team, I'd been upset and even embarrassed over the Kings, especially losing to a crappy team. The Pens have improved so much since last season. I was so used to them seeing them constantly lose all the time. It was really sad and heartbreaking, but I still rooted for them. Now, they are the total opposite of last year's team, but I shouldn't speak too soon. Nonetheless, the Pens have come a long ways, but now they have become one of the most improved teams of the NHL. In all, I am so proud of my Pens and Kings, especially Kings for still playing hard & bringing the game as far as OT rather than slipping on slip and slides once the other team takes the lead.

After the game, we waited outside in hopes of meeting any Pens players, just if case one or more decide to hang out at downtown L.A. Although we did see some Kings players leave, the Pens decided not to go out, and they all boarded the bus and left for their hotel. So we decided to call it a night...

Since it was dark, downtown L.A. is dangerous, creepy and ghetto at night time, and mademoisellenat went to the game alone, I offered her a ride to her parking lot so that she doesn't have to go alone. I'm glad we drove her to her car (even if it means driving in circles) because I DO NOT RECOMMEND walking alone at night time at downtown L.A. Like I said before, it was dangerous. Even if I'm w/ a bunch of ppl. I still feel a bit scared and uneased walking around downtown L.A. at night.

From they we went back home, said goodbye to puckplayer42 and I was so spent!

Right now I leave you w/ 72 pregame/game pix... Next entry... Kings' & Penguins' practices... Anyways, enjoy and have a wonderful night. :D
