Yesterday I took another trip to El Segundo for the Kings' practice.
Here's a summary of the events that happend:
Good:
+ Me running into my old college friend/fella Kings hockey fan, Vanessa.
+ Also running into Jason, a guy I met at training camp, as well as Golfnut & Erica from letsgokings.com.
+ More people at this practice than 2 weeks ago.
+++ Meeting Joe Corvo, even if he was already in his car. At least he saw me & waved at me... He even asked me if I wanted him to sign something. *le sigh*
+++ Craig Conroy being uber sweet! He even asked me who's birthday it was since I was having players sign
hockeychix98's birthday card. He then wished her a Happy Birthday (although it's more than a month early). We chatted for a bit and everything. I totes ♥ him for that! Not only has he been helping the Kings out, but he's such a sweetheart!
+ Tim Gleason wishing
hockeychix98 a Happy Birthday.
+ Me being able to catch Brownie. I even called him "Tripod" and he stopped for me. There's a long story on how he got his new nickname, "Tripod". ^__~
+ Mattias telling us that he had to bring a whole cooler of ice home to sooth their injuries, after Vanessa asked him why they are bringing a drink cooler since we saw George and Matti carrying one.
+ One of the guys (I didn't really catch his name) letting me have his copies of Mike Cammalleri & Luc Robatille game pix.
+ Meeting more players including Nate Dempsey, Mike Weaver, Jeff Giuliano & more...
+ Derek Armstrong's shirt. He's one of the best dressers of all Kings players. Then of course Derek being nice as always.
+ Tom Kostopoulos & Jason LaBarbera liking a "Girls Hockey" shirt and Tom even asking me if I play hockey.
+ Luc Robatille-He has never dissapointed me one bit whenever I meet him. I ♥ him for being uber sweet to his fans.
+++ Jason LaBarbera!!!!
+ Jason jokingly stealing
hockeychix98's card.
+ Vanessa helping me out w/ the pix which made things so much easier (Normally
hockeychix98 and I would take each other pix whenever we met the players, but it's been difficult to get pix w/o her being around). Thanx a bunchems Vanessa! ♥
+ Getting a ride from Vanessa rather than having to take the rail/subway/bus. That allowed us to catch up and stuff since it's been a while since we last saw each other. Once again thank you so much! ♥
+ Getting home much earlier than expected.
Bad:
- Bus 183 running late.
- Traffic on Los Feliz causing me to show up to El Segundo a bit late.
- The guy in front of me, glancing/looking at me, which creeped me the hell out. I'm glad I had my iPod w/ me.
- Me showing up to practice at 11(ish) which I was later informed that the players skated at 10:30 or so.
--- Autograph seekers informing me that Mike Cammalleri was gone. I should've asked the autograph seekers if any of the players were still on the ice/not before going inside. He must've left before I arrived or left while I was watching the players on the ice. This is the 5th I've missed him whenever I go to Toyota Sports Center & he's around (the other times were the prospect scrimmage game in 2002, Training Camps 2002 & 2003 & Labor Day during the random scrimmage game). I wanted to meet him the most and have him sign
hockeychix98's card. Ah well...
- George Parros's ankle from the game the night before. He told me that his ankle was hurting him. :( Please feel better...
- The weather being so friggin hot! Thank goodness I didn't get sunburnt.
Good/Bad:
+/- The on-ice session being boring since there were less players on the ice.
+/- Me not getting my paint pen set up thus Joe had to start it up for me. I felt bad for holding him up while getting my pen paint to work, but he was too sweet to stay a bit longer just to help me out.
While I was waiting for the players, I spotted players from other teams going by the inline area and entering the ice area. I thought they were Avalanche players until I spotted one of the Sedin twin. Then I realized they were Canucks players. I was like WTF are they doing there? I didn't meet any of them, but I managed to get a pic of the Canucks players walking in. I almost met one of the Sedin twins, but I didn't even bother since he was on his phone plus he wouldn't sign any of the stuff for the Autograph seekers.
If only Luc "Bert" Bourdon was with the Canucks right now, I would've died on the spot. I would've rushed down to the inline area and join the Autograph seekers. I'd also try to stay longer, and wait for the Canucks practice to end so that I can meet him (get his autograph & a pic w/ him).
Ah well...
There were also Lakers players roaming around, since they also practice at the same place. I know some people tried to get one player's autograph, but he snubbed them all.
Overall, I had an amazing time at practice, despite missing Cammy.
I'll try to go to more practice as time, rides, ect. permits and as the season goes by...
Canucks entering the rink... I spot Dan Cloutier!
Joe Corvo and I being occupied...
Joe and Me
Tim Gleason
Brownie
This has by far the cutest pic of Dustin Brown I've ever seen, and I took that pic! ;)
George Parros
Mattias Norstrom
Mike Weaver
Nate Dempsey
As you can tell, I didn't take that pic...
Derek Armstrong
Tom Kostopulous
Jeff Giuliano
Luc Robatille
Luc Again
Jason LaBarbera
The Penguins play against the Flyers while the Kings play against the Avalanche tonight.
And I'm spent! Have a wonderful day! :D
Edit:
Take from

2005-11-19
BOUCHERVILLE, Saturday, November 19, 2005 (QMJHL) - Following a hand injury, Val-d’Or Foreurs defenseman Luc Bourdon will be unable to participate in the ADT Canada/Russia Challenge. Therefore, his teammate Sébastien Bisaillon will be called upon to replace him.
The event takes place on Monday, November 21st at the Marcel-Dionne Center in Drummondville and on Wednesday, November 23rd, at Moncton Coliseum. Of note, the ADT Canada/Russia Challenge plays a very important role in the selection process of Canada's upcoming World Junior Hockey Championship team.
Furthermore, a limited quantity of tickets are still available. For more details, click on the link below.
Since when did Bert get injured!? How long will he be out for? Poor Bert! Just like the dream I had, he gets injured and misses the Canada/Russia challenge, except he hurts his hand instead of breaking his foot. Please feel better soon Bert! ♥
On the bright side, I heard Pier-Olivier Pelletier is back on goal after injuring his hips. A big thanx to
askedfour for the great news!
