[+] General tv catch-up:
If I have any issues with Underground right now, it’s that the title is so vague, it’s hard to find anything about it on Tumblr. (Priorities.) I mainly get pictures of subways and techno tracks.
Anyway…
The Macon 7 was split in half! This show is really Spartacus 2.0, with the breakneck pace. Zeke was amazing! Like, I really kind of thought that nothing could take him down! And it definitely shows what M7 lost in his brute strength.
Pearly Mae. I was SCREAMING. Ernestine is amazing. How does someone be so stone cold and so loving and tender and respectful at the same time? Not to mention the whole connection between Pearly Mae and Suzanna.
I have to say, I feel like Suzanna and Tom are shaping up to be interesting in their own way. Not ‘humanized’, really but there are interesting layers. Suzanna is like an evil queen and she is whip-fucking-smart (though no one is as as smart as Ernestine), but she keeps it all under that sugar-and-molasses, simple Southern Belle smile. Tom, on the other hand, is not nearly as smart. But the way that Ernestine coached Pearly Mae, when she thought she would be ‘presented’ to him, to be thrown on his mercy? Tom knows how limited he is, and he needs to feel liked, and admired, and like he’s an all around swell guy, which Ernestine has been padding his ego for however long.
And it was 100% confirmed that Rosalee is Tom’s offspring. And here’s where I’m curious- it was said so casually, like everyone knew. Like it’s a known thing that the plantation master’s slave children get moderate ‘house’ privileges when they’re young but more or less forgotten about when they reach whatever age to be deemed ‘useful’. I’m assuming Suzanna knows, adding to her general nastiness. Does Rosalee know? I feel like she’s old enough to at least suspect, but how blatant would it be?
My sweet little Boo! I am so in love with that little girl, and her tiny hand stroking Zeke’s face, her sweet, gorgeous smile when he gave her the peach. (Fuck you, hormones!) Now...from like, a filming perspective, I guess? I can see why her and Moses had to be separated. But I hope that’s not the last that we see of them. First of all, I don’t think her father is really her best chance. He doesn’t have Pearly Mae’s intelligence, for one, or Noah’s confidence, or Rosalee’s toughness or Cato’s scheistiness. I’m worried.

Like I said, I’m only up through Broken Hearts, but I know about That Thing That Happened…
SPOILER ALERT
SPOILER ALERT
SPOILER ALERT
That Laurel was killed, and you guys, I just don’t know if I’ll be back next year. I don’t know everything about the way she died (something to do with H.I.V.E.) but I did hear about her deathbed declaration that Oliver was the love of her life, and I feel like it’s such a disservice to her character, and the awesome friendship that they’ve built up over the past few years, and the amazing *partnership* they’ve built over the past year. Arrow has done some really great deaths. Tommy and Moira, PHENOMENAL. I know people were up in arms about Sara, but to me, that story was perfect. It was absolutely gutting and it was intended to be, and it hit every mark, and did justice to Sara Lance and it set up the best origins story for the Black Canary (who Dinah Laurel Lance was always intended to be). And also, I think they already had plans to spin Caity Lotz off into that Every Character Ever show.
But we are in a pattern now, of a Big Hero Death every year (plus Roy left last year, which wasn’t the same thing, but he’s still gone), and the family that we started with is dwindling, and this show was not built to have a revolving ensemble cast. This show is about Oliver Queen, and his family. Plus, if we keep going in this direction, I feel like Thea would be next up to bat, so to speak. And I know it’s kind of a joke that I OTP this brother and sister so hard, but it’s not even that I think that they’re going to make out and date and that they secretly wish they could do those things, but the first three years of this show, from the first episode, I felt like the Queen siblings were each other’s *guts*. Soulmates doesn’t need to be a sexual, romantic thing. These two were each other’s everything. And I was SO excited to see them in green and red this year, TRULY partners in crime...and what I’ve gotten has been *fabulous*, but...I feel like I’ve been short-changed.
And the reason for THAT is…
Seriously, hardcore Felicity/Olicity fans, look away, NOW
More or less, I feel like Felicity has eaten the show. And this season in particular, has *really* played up the Perfect Felicity: Brave, Strong & Beautiful angle, and it disrupts the balance of the show. If she is always perfect and right, then someone else (Oliver, who is the title character of the show) is wrong. And in this case? (‘This case’ being him respecting the wishes of the mother of his son, on the slim chance that he could start to get to know him after ten years of not knowing he existed?) OLIVER IS RIGHT.
[+] Pregnancy. I’m starting to do...um...research. If any of you ladies care to share stories of your experiences giving birth, I’m all ears.
We’ve sort of whipped through our registry, and all of the big essential stuff is purchased...now we just need to find a place to live, haha!
Oh, did I tell you guys that? We’re moving. We don’t know when or where yet, but we ARE. (House is going on the market in mid-May and it should sell quickly.) After that...who knows?
