Whatever's Meant To Be Will Work Out Perfectly

I had plans to get into this post to get into how fucking utterly delightful last week's Reign was, but then I caught wind of this:

I know I'm 31 years old and haven't watched Glee in like three years (and I thought that Ryan Murphy and Lea Michele hated Dianna Agron's guts), but if they end this terrible show with a Puck/Quinn wedding (hey why ( Read more... )

Personally to me it's not just the many subplots, some of which I'm not interested in really, it's that there are too many characters that I don't think serve much of a purpose: Taylor for example seems like such a cliché because you must have the bitchy high-school diva around and Sophia's romantic interest in her seems very contrived to me. That being said, obviously that's just my personal opinion.

ETA: I had no idea that Lea and Dianna didn't get along.

I think that's a problem with a lot of the CW shows- the CW seems to be a welcoming little hub for scifi/fantasy angles that might not translate well to the big wigs like HBO, etc. but they also need to have these staples that someone thinks they need to provide to a teenaged audience (high school cliques, love triangles, etc.)

I'm generally not a big fan of love triangle but in this case I don't really mind. I think you made some really good points about what every character's headspace is at the moment so it doesn't feel like too much of cliché to but other things kind of do - mainly Taylor's character, also Lucas who doesn't seem to serve a purpose other than Roman's go-to tech-guy. I just wonder if the same things could not have been accomplished with fewer character to make the story denser and give the characters more of a profile. But again, that's just my personal opinion.

Yeah, I don't get Lucas either. I don't get how he became such good friends with Emery, unless he was also in the hospital at some point or whatnot.

I assumed he was head of that scrapbooking club (remember their club advertising with that exhibition/sign-up table in the cafeteria?) and therefore got to know both Emery and Julia while visiting them in the hospital. But in any case, I suppose I would have preferred if Julia had become Roman's go-to-tech-girl: Because (a) tech-girls are cool and (b) she and Roman are already sharing the cypher secret and (c) I would like to see more friendships between boys/men and girls/women on TV that don't have a romantic component. The last good one I can remember were Wallace and Veronica. I'm just saying. I mean I see what purpose characters like Taylor and Lucas are serving on the show but I don't think they are really necessary.

Lucas needs a throwaway line- he was Emery's next door neighbor, *something* to explain why he's so tight with the girls. And I would have preferred Julia to be the techie here too, and I like her friendship with Roman, but to me it does feel relatively shippy. I hope that they don't go the route of having Julia fall for him.

I don't get the shippy vibe but I'm very unassuming I guess when it comes to such things.

I hope that they don't go the route of having Julia fall for him.

Yeah, that'd be terribly annoying.

I remember reading something after Cory died that Ryan and Lea didn't want to ask Dianna back for the memorial episode. Something about how they didn't want the drama or something, I can't remember the exact words, but it was a fairly cutting thing to say, I do remember that.

Wow. When did that happen? At least in the beginning I remember that there were a lot of pictures of Dianna and Lea on and off set where they appeared very friendly. Frankly the only reason why I watched last night's episode was because Dianna was back so...

I honestly have no idea. I think during the first season/shooting, Lea and Dianna were roommates even. DRAMA.

They really must have kept a lid on that fall-out until that article/comment you read I suppose.

I guess- I don't keep up much with the Glee gossip.
