This Girl Is On Fire

So many Reign feelings, and all the ways that all the women on the show (including the thirteen-year-old ladies-in-waiting) are the biggest bunch of badass motherfuckers since Naevia and Mira...

I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE FUCK TO DO WITH MY HANDS, WHAT THE FUCK EVEN WAS THAT JUST PILE OF AWESOMENESS.

AND THERE WEREN'T EVEN ANY BASH/MARY PARTS.

All of these fucking awesome ladies out-badassing each other. Even Lola gets a nod for telling it how it is (though that's never been a lacking point for her). I was just about to comment that Aylee didn't really get to do much and then I realized...where the fuck was Sexy Nostradamus Rossif Sutherland?? And how does history not show Catherine de Medici cutting his head off for not being around when it counted, hm?

Okay, so that was Aylee and Lola, and I do still love Kenna, but she is just not the smartest. But my bones hurt when she was getting the shit kicked out of her, literally. I don't know why, that felt like one of the most brutal things I'd ever seen on the CW, this tiny, tan little princess cowering on the ground while that thug kicked her in the side over and over. It was so sinister.

Greer and Leith continue to just get hotter. Now Greer definitely *is* the smartest of Mary's ladies and now she and Leith are some sort of insanely hot Bonnie and Clyde. A double kill?

This is something I've noticed, and you can kind of see what role each girl plays for Mary. Greer is gorgeous and poised, and always seems to be the one Mary has at her side at court- she gave the grand intro in the beginning of the show, and when Mary took over her own marriage treaty, it was Greer holding the book. And then Aylee of course is spying on the Medici queen- something you definitely wouldn't trust to a fool and something only one who is supremely loyal would do. Aylee a ride-or-die chick, that's for sure. Kenna seems to be Mary's pet, they're usually cuddling or walking along holding hands. I'm not really sure on Lola, because Lola seems to just kind of yell at everyone all the time. I guess it could be said that Lola's the one who stands up to Mary and keeps her grounded, and that might work if the way Anna Popplewell played her didn't irk me so much.

Anyway, back to the content of the episode. I'm just in fucking love with Mary and Adelaide Kane, more and more as the show goes on. And she has this beautiful, delicate balance where she can walk around and shout at some fucker to get his rotten hands off her baby girl Kenna, and do it because the Queen of Scotland said so. And then there's the side of her who has to go along with all of the Italian count's wretched niceties, and then is in the fragile position of anyone being able to take all of her power away if ever she has the audacity to be raped. But she showed that, when push comes to shove, she does what needs to be done.

And then Francis comes along like a pissy crybaby and cuts off a dead man's hand. Go you, Dauphin, go you.

The one thing that I don't anticipate on this show is Mary trying to fake her virginity on her wedding night, so I don't think that they actually did the dirty in the end of the episode. $0.02.

I enjoyed the backstory on Catherine. I'm not really sure what to take away from the last anecdote, that Catherine didn't escape the men who held her prisoner, because once again, there's no way they would let Henry II marry a girl who was not a virgin.

But beyond that, I really fell in love with Catherine in this episode for who she is, for how smart and how self-reliant she is. Team Caterina.

Though there is still much respect for Witchy Diane and the lengths she goes to for her child, and the quiet ways she outschemes Medici queens.

Of course, the realest BAMF is Clarissa who holds all of the strings. I don't know why she wants to help Mary so very badly. I still kind of feel like she might be Diane's daughter. There's got to be a reason she's got it so out for the queen. And Olivia is kind of a dum-dum after all. I laughed out loud at her what are you!
