Wow. That is a SHOCKINGLY low amount. I feel like I’m missing stuff, and I *know* I’m missing stuff from commentathons and whatnot. I need to do a better job about bookmarking my stuff.
Anyway...
01. Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?:
~It’s lower than it’s been in past years, but I was completely uninspired pretty much all through last winter and spring, and once I got going in the summer, I clipped on more or less at my ‘normal‘ pace. There were a number of things I wrote this year that I never posted (and probably will never) including my original (unfinished) NaNo, Dancing With The Stars RPF and my Billy Riggins/Veronica Mars universe that I’m going to be tinkering with until the end of time. And all the advent fics helped getting creative juices flowing...I haven’t written in a couple of days now and I’m itching for Sunday to get back to Lexie Grey.
02. What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?:
~That probably the most effort I put into writing this year was for RPF? It was never something I expected out of myself. And as far as the advent fics go, that so many people wanted Veronica Mars. It’s not talked about a whole lot any more.
03. What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?:
~Probably my Hathaway fic. It rolled out completely naturally, and I do like my ‘voice‘ in that world.
04. Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?:
~Honestly, this year was kind of freeing, because everything I wanted to write (until John/Taylor came along) were from really small fandoms, and within them, really strange pairings or fringe characters (as my usual m.o.) so I knew that a given four or five people would probably read them. It’s gotten me much better about just writing for myself rather than try to...I don’t know, have a much-commented story. Not that I think I ever really tried to do that, but...
05. Do you have any fanfic goals for the New Year?:
~Write longer, more detailed fic, take more time with ideas. Not get frustrated and give up after a thousand words or so.
06. From my past year of writing, what was...
~My Best Story:
~Probably
When You Come Back Down. I feel like it’s the most ‘complete‘ story.
Story Most Underappreciated by the Universe:
~Probably
Farewell To A Very Special Friendship (and if you ran, screaming, from the title, I don’t blame you). But then again...it was a tiny fandom, that not many people on my f-list are into. And once again...even within the tiny fandom, Lafayette is not the Character of Choice.
Most Popular:
~
Who You Are, Not What You Did, counted together with the feedback I got from the Yuletide archive.
Most Fun:
~Probably
In The Palm Of Your Hand, or as
empressearwig called it when she beta-ed it, “A Very Hathaway Christmas” (which is actually a much better and suiting title).
Most Disappointing:
~
Certainty. It was the first fic I’d written in six months, and I was *so* very rusty.
Most Sexy:
~I was a NUN this year. There was sex in
Stick Around Now It May Show, but it happened off-screen.
Story With The Single Sweetest Moment:
~I really liked the world I created for Alcide and Sookie as parents in
Like A Serenade.
Biggest Surprise:
~Writing
Out Of My Mind after three years of being away from Lulu and Cruz.
Hardest to Write:
~The hardest is most definitely Miles To Go Before I Sleep, the as-yet unposted Billy Riggins/Veronica Mars epic that plagues my life. It just never fits the way it’s supposed to.
Aaaaaand scene. Wow. I'm spent.
