This has got to be one of the best weekends I've had in a while ^^
Yesterday I had my regular 9 - 5 stint at work. But because we are launching a new kids' top 50 books promotion, we got to dress up as a character from one of the books!
Naturally Harry Potter was number one, but because I had dressed up as him last year - with my short, cropped hair, glasses and beautiful black cape I got from Into Camelot - I decided to do something different.
I decided on Willy Wonka. So, decked out in an rich purple jacket, top hat and lopsided, loud gold bowtie I happily went off to work. (If you were driving past me and almost ran off the road because you were staring at my costume, you should have been watching the road and not staring at your fellow motorists. Fucktards.)
Anyway, went to the florist to fill up some helium balloons and spent the rest of the day trying to cajole customers into the store using a combination of sweets, smiles and inflated balloons.
Only 6 people out of everyone I asked, correctly guessed who I was. For everyone else, I was met with a blank stare.
The most memorable responses were:
A clown
Harry Potter
The Mad Hatter from Alice and Wonderland
And the idiot whose response was after I playfully hinted that I was from a recent movie with Johnny Depp in it, "Oh! You're from Pirates of the Caribbean, aren't you?"
*facepalm*
This coming from a mother with two kids! Honestly...
It was a very slow day so we hardly had any paying customers :(
After that, I went to Becky's house where Melissa, Vanessa from high school met up with us, and we all went to see Adam Hills perform at the Octagon at UWA. I can't keep away from the place :P
He was an absolute riot and was accompanied by a guy who signed his entire performance as there was a small deaf section of the audience. Some of the gestures were hilarious, and it was obvious it was Adam's first time performing with someone signing along side him - he was laughing as hard as the rest of us XD
He also explained to us the true meaning of surrealism:
"When you go to a comedy convention in Scotland, and some guy's just walked out of a show and collapsed, his best mate who's the only doctor in the building's been escorted away by security, his wife is asking for me an autograph, and Bart Simpson (Nancy Cartwright) is telling him to come away from the light, that's surreal!"
After the laughter had died down, a man with an incredibly thick Scottish accent yells out, "That's not surreal - that's Scotland!"
Big red fire engines ftw!!
Today, I slept in til 10 (its like Christmas!) and after lunch Ed came round and we played WoW on my computer and his laptop.
W00t for wireless internet modems!!
Studying for exams atm....blaahhhh not fun. My exams are on the 13th, 14th and 16th of June, but they are all afternoon exams, so that's got to count for something!
In other news, the Playstation 3 release date is now mid-November...so expect it out around this time next year :P
