These Eastern Germanic people are well known for their fierce way of urban robbery. Though in fact they did nothing special if we compare them with other Germanic invaders like Goths, Franks, Saxons, Burgunds etc.
They just were the first to get Rome itself (455 A.D.), centuries after last Gallic success.
Though most of initially successive Germanic barbarian powers lately ceased to exist or were conquered by their neighbours, there were different situations with historical and cultural remains of them. Despite powerful Vandalian allies - Goths - were also destroyed by tide of history, it looks like we can analyze Vandalic culture and language basing only on Gothic heritage.
In fact there are only some names of kings, some modern Spanish names (like Alfonso, Adolfo, Rolando etc, though most of them are known as former Gothic) and only two phrases.
Here they are:
Latin phrase (390 A.D.)
Inter eils Goticum scapiamatziaiadrincan
non audet quisquam dignos educere versus.
Which gives quite actual sense in our times of postmodern absence of high culture. This means : “among Hail! Gothic (people) let's get us some food and drink nobody dares to produce dignified verse”. In Gothic this looks like “hails! skapjam matjan jah drigkan”.
The second phrase is the beginning of one Christian prayer: Fröja Armes! - Lord, have mercy.
And this is all about those people…
