The past two weeks have been one sprint after another and the marathon of writing/editing/publishing is far away from daily reality. Most of the hectic activity is great fun. The visit to Monterey for five days was awesome. Beautiful wide blue skies, deep blue seas, and lots of laughing. My aunt owns
Baby Moon, a mommy & baby boutique so I came home with pretty clothes, hurrah. And now I need to sell a best-seller so we can buy a condo near the sea :)
Last week was Open House for kindergarten where we meet new families interested in joining our school. Talking about childhood and philosophy and the joys of learning awakens my own inner delight in spending time with kiddos only five years on this earth where ice and geese and stuffed unicorns are all some kind of magic.
My cousin and her son visited this weekend and the two kids spent hours outside on bikes and throwing pine cones for the dog. My favorite quote from her son was said in the car- Mommy, I like going to Anika's house but for all the shouting. All the mommies and daddies in the hot tub are shouting. Sure enough, we get together with my brother and his family and we're telling jokes and stories and the house is filled with happy noise. Poor kids. :)
Dear husband also bought Guitar Hero and he's been playing that. I've tried it a little and there is a hypnotic quality in responding to colors pouring down the screen. I get booed often, though :)
Then, yesterday, my other brother traveled with his family from Oceanside down south and I planned the games for their baby shower. My little nephew is due on May 21st. I had a brilliant, let's make playdough for the kids idea that turned into gooey mess and threw my morning off kilter. Luckily it did not set the tone for the day and the shower was a wonderful gathering. Celebrate babies!
Phew, so this week I have additional rehearsals for Peter Pan which I am directing with second grade and staging next week. My neice and brother are in town all week. We may go see Horton today. And there's always Guitar Hero . . . :)
Distractions abound. But two more months of kiddos at school. Then I finish the homestudy contracts and then long summer days . . . ah, the marathon awaits. I miss writing.
