2nd last update for today! this one is... something special :D i've read somewhere before that kyu enjoys solving math problems even in his free time~ reminds me of myself haha ^^ i was solving sec 4 math in class the other day while giving tuition to this kid ^^
100 Super Junior Fiction Challenge:
Title: Numbers
Pairing: #88 kyu.teuk (5 year age gap acc to mr cho haha)
Jung Soo was in awe - he was really amazed. Kyuhyun was sitting there, just in front of him across the kitchen table, solving math problems effortlessly. How Kyuhyun managed to do it so happily was beyond his comprehension though - he could barely make it through a math class awake, what’s more solve math problems in his free time.
“Hyung,” Kyuhyun called out suddenly, with his pen and eyes all the while fixed on his paper, “done staring?” He asked in his usual snarky magnae tone.
“Yah, be nice to me,” Jung Soo said embarrassedly, “I’m the hyung here.”
“But I’m the magnae,” came Kyuhyun’s happy reply. “Anyway it’s your payback time.”
“For the Han Kang ramyeon remark?” Jung Soo chuckled, half embarrassed that Kyuhyun still remembers the incident. “Yah, I’m no longer bullying you, so stop telling the whole world about this.”
Kyuhyun didn’t reply, but merely smiled and continued doing his math problems. This got Jung Soo to be even more curious about what was going on in Kyuhyun’s head.
“Yah,” Jung Soo called out quietly, “how do you even solve those? What’s so interesting about them? They’re all just numbers that I cannot comprehend.”
“Aha, that’s the point. Math is a language for the intelligent, and numbers are our alphabet,” was the evil magnae’s snarky reply. And all these while, he just continued scribbling on his notepad.
“Yah, are you calling me dumb?!” Jung Soo suddenly shouted out when he realized what Kyuhyun was hinting at.
“That took you 5 seconds, not too bad of a reflex, but you can do so much better. Mine would be about 1 second?” Kyuhyun replied teasingly.
“You were counting all these while? While you were doing those at the same time?” Jung Soo asked in amazement. “Yah… you’re really a scholar huh…”
“Of course, Scholar Kyu is always the best. And math isn’t that difficult once you make friends with all those numbers - it’s really simple, like learning a new language,” Kyuhyun said easily, as if it was something as simple as breathing. Jung Soo however, could agree less.
“You make it sound so simple. With brains like yours of course it’s as easy as speaking Korea, with mine though…”
“Hyung,” Kyuhyun cut into Jung Soo’s sentence, this time, finally stopping his pen and lifting his head up. “It really is very simple. Everything in this world is formed from numbers, even your favourite computer and the Internet. Everything is numbers; it’s just a matter of whether or not you see the logic behind it.”
“As if,” Jung Soo said and gave a loud sigh, hitting Kyuhyun’s head lightly out of playfulness. “Even your games are numbers too, Game Kyu?”
“Of course,” Kyuhyun replied as he once again buried his head back into his math problems. “Even Ryeong-gu’s cooking is all about numbers.”
And they both chuckled at that comment, both aware of how much Ryeowook dislikes solving math problems and facing numbers.
“But don’t tell him I said that.”
