100 Super Junior Fiction Challenge:
Title: Calendar
Pairing: #59 jungsoo (forever, my role model and my soft spot)
This was one of those days when Jung Soo was all alone at home.
At home.
Not the dormitory that he shares with about half of the members.
He was all alone at home.
All by himself.
To be truthful, he was surprised that he was actually home, considering that he never liked being home. Most of the time, if he wasn’t at a schedule or the company or the practice rooms, he would be in the gym or the dorm. Whatever the case, it would not be home.
Even if his home was so close to the dormitory. In fact, if it wasn’t for his waist injury, he highly doubted that he would even be home for the next 6 months, what’s more to say being at home for a straight 6 days.
But today, was one of those days when he didn’t have any schedules to rush to, no meetings that he had to attend, just nothing to do. Just a few days ago though, everything else was different. He was rushing from one place to another - the recording studios filming Star King, Strong Heart and recording the songs for 4jib, going to SuKiRa, practicing the new dance steps - time wasn’t exactly on his side. But ever since he injured his waist again during a recent dance practice, he suddenly had all the time in the world.
Within 24 hours, so much about his life changed. The doctor forced him to stay away from work, his manager hyung refused to let him go back to his schedules and his mum wouldn’t hear of him leaving the house.
If it wasn’t for the calendar in his room, he may not have even realized that 6 days have since passed.
And he spent those 6 days doing nothing.
Jung Soo sighed as he looked at the calendar - there were 6 crosses - one for each day that he was stuck at home. And that was probably also the first time that he realized how old he was this year.
2010.
It was the year 2010.
How many years have passed since 1983? He is after all, at the age when he should be entering the army. How many of these years he had spent meaningfully and wisely? Will he be able to say that he’s lived his life to the fullest up till now?
Now that he’s thinking back on these years, they seemed like nothing. These years are but mere passing moments in the universe. How frail human life actually is, that was the only conclusion that Jung Soo could come out with.
Maybe today won’t be classified like one of the other 6 days he spent doing nothing at home, maybe this week he spent resting at all won’t be so wasted and meaningless after all.
At least, he made a new resolution - to spend the rest of this year before he leaves for the army chasing after all his dreams, the ones he wants to remember when he looks back at the calendar years later.
