100 Super Junior Fiction Challenge:
Title: Coffee
Pairing: #9 eun.hae
“Don’t wanna try don’t wanna try don’t try wanna try no more…”
Donghae was singing away happily in the upper dorm that was shared by about half of the 10 out of 13 members. It was Frankie J’s “Don’t Wanna Try” and he had got himself addicted to that song ever since Taeyang sang it at last year’s SBS Gayo Daejun. It was a rather nice song and being a singer, Donghae naturally had to vocals to sing it within the tune and beat. But unfortunately for him, Eunhyuk who had ran up to the upper dorm to escape Kangin and Eeteuk’s lovey-dovey moments didn’t quite appreciate the song.
“YAH FISH!” Eunhyuk shouted from the sofa to the dining table where Donghae was sitting. “STOP SINGING!” And with that, he threw a cushion over to his best friend.
“STUPID ANCHOVY!” Donghae shouted back when the cushion hit the back of his head and interrupted what he was doing. “I'm not going to stoop down to your level. I’ll be nice and forget it,” and saying that he went back to his singing while he continued making a cup of coffee.
Ah, coffee, he thought to himself. Nothing beats a nice good cup of coffee every day.
Ever since Sungmin hyung introduced the drink to him a few days back, he started taking notice of the different types of coffee. Today, Donghae was trying out Alpine Bliss, a recipe given to him by Kibum when he found out that the older boy had taken a liking to coffee. Even though there was only the average Robusta coffee powder at home, Donghae was taking a serious attitude towards his coffee. As Sungmin said, “Life’s nothing without coffee and wine, the two best beverages on earth.” While Donghae refused to agree with his hyung for the latter, he was very agreeable with the former.
Coffee! Donghae exclaimed happily in his heart when the coffee was finally brewed. Now all that was left was the mixing of the other ingredients to get his Alpine Bliss!
Meanwhile, Eunhyuk was starting to get guilty about mistreating his best friend. Ever since Junsu, his childhood friend and best friend since elementary school, debut as a member of Dong Bang Shin Ki, Eunhyuk had gotten nothing but closer to Donghae. The boys had met when Donghae first entered the company, only about a year after Eunhyuk entered the company. In many ways, the boys had shared most of their bitter and sweet moments together.
As the aroma of Donghae’s coffee got stronger, Eunhyuk couldn’t help but get tempted. While he was no expert in drinking coffee, he definitely knew where and when there was good food. Slowly, he crept off the sofa and gently went behind Donghae.
“Ya, stupid anchovy Lee Hyuk Jae, if you want the coffee just tell me. Don’t do things like creep behind others.”
Busted.
“Donghae-ya, my dear fish, we’ve been friends for so long, you’ll forgive me for my stupid actions right?”
“I'm nice so I’ll forgive you. Go keep that cushion and I’ll share this brew of coffee with you.”
“HURRAY! And shall we take some over to Junsu too? He’s back from Japan.”
“… hmm, okay. And I’ll bring some for Yunho hyung too.”
Eunhyuk flashed his signature gummy smile at Donghae, stretching his hands out as well while giving him two thumbs up.
“You’re JJANG!”
And with that brew of Alpine Bliss, the two friends sat down together and had their breakfast, recounting those trainee days when they didn’t had to rush around for schedules. It had been ages since they finally got a chance to sit down like this and enjoy, and they weren’t about to let their childish fights ruin the day for them.
