Subject: Zarathustra at the University of Padova
Dear Lena Hades,
giving a lecture on Nietzsche's Zarathustra at the University of Padua (I attach the syllabus), I would like to speak about your artistic interpretation of Zarathustra to my students, more or less 200 hundred jong women and men, which are interested in your iconoclastic «struggle of images» that continues the provocations of Nietzsche and deepens our cultural selfrepresentation.
I spent some time on Schopenhauer, Nietzsche and Heidegger (I translate into Italian Heidegger’s two volumes on Nietzsche) and I am convinced that Nietzsche’s aphorisms and his so called fragments are to be regarded as a pointillistic picture: they describe the whole of our times, but the reader must find the just distance in order to see the ensemble. Therefore mi interest in your art als heuristic key to enter into Nietzsche’s Zarathustra.
My questions to you:
Where can I buy a copy of the edition of Nietzsche’s Zarathustra with your illustrations published by the Institute of Philosophy by the Russian Academy of Sciences?
Would you come to Padua for a lesson on the Zarathustra? What do you think about?
Best regards,
Franco Volpi
