Home!

That's right, I'm soon to head out to the wet coast to spend a couple weeks with my family.
I haven't seen most of my close family (almost all of whom, including immediate cousins, still live on Vancouver Island) since Christmas of 2006, so they decided it was time to start prodding me about a visit. In the accepted terms of family manipulation, they put one of my nephews (four years old) on the phone and let him tell me to come home because he misses me. That and my father asking about sealed the deal.

So, next Sunday it's up at four (or up all night) and off to the airport at 5 a.m. Be there nice and early, as I have seven hours of flight and waits ahead of me. I had the forethought, this time, to buy a couple musicals on DVD to amuse me, and I'll have hours of knitting and my new drop spindle to keep me company until I reach Victoria and the whirlwind of visiting begins.

On that note, I am exceedingly proud of myself:

This is my second spinning project, and one I'm giving to my mother. It came out as very thick yarn (I'll have to work on spinning thinner yarn) and should be enough for a hat, or perhaps some very warm mittens. It's also, as can be seen, in a colour scheme that nobody but me would ever make or buy for her.
