when i believed
i was always right
and wrote poetry
without worrying about metre
or stanzas or rhyme
i did not use capitals
bad grammar was not
the end of the world
and i was good

there was a day
when i woke up
afraid and angry
and full of shame
or bitterness
for my lack of skill
feelings
that have yet to
fade

today
i write without

I suppose it is
                            i.n.s.an.i.t.y
that has lead me
to hang on to you
for this long.
I suppose it is
                                         stubbornness
that makes me clench my
fists
in your memory.

that keeps me hanging on.

that we could be

And perhaps I could feel
better
about this,
but we never really fought,

just kind of drifted

a    w    a    y.

The waves sing a song of tears shed beneath their watery tips
Crashing to shore they attempt to shout with tightly tied lips
The wind, pushes them
Punishes them
Caresses them
as they dance to the music of love and lust
(Sensual in the most teasing way)

They draw the sounds of pleasure, a hollow echo  along the beach
sending wildlife searching for cover.
