So Belgium was really quite cool and Radiohead was awesome and Neil Young was entirely excellent, despite playing mostly songs from his newer, crapper albums, and Beck was great, despite being a Scientologist.

Slightly smaller band that rocked more than was predicted: DeVotchKa. They were first on at about quarter to 1 in the afternoon, before people really had started drinking properly, and everyone was really into it. They are a lively bunch.

Max unfortunately broke his ankle a few days before we went, though, which sucked somewhat, but we got given a wheelchair at the festival and we all had a time. Also, we met a lot of total winners, including this one guy - oh wait, now I'm pretty much launching into a full and rambling story because I've suddenly woken up tenfold and wish to tell this story.

Okay, so basically our plan was to go to Brussels a day early and hang out in the town before going to the festival the next day (and also to stay in Bruges for the day after the festival), and basically we're total travel n00bs (lolz) anyway because we didn't think it'd be necessary to book a hostel or anything for when we got there. By the way, guys - totally necessary.

For a really long time, it really looked like we'd have nowhere to stay. Which wouldn't be quite so bad, if Max didn't have the ol' ankle. We pretty much set up some form of base camp in front of the first hostel to reject us, whilst Poppy, Guy and I dumped our bags with the others and ran off to find places to stay.

In the end, we found that a campsite on the edge of the town (in a church garden, I suspect) had some space, so we headed there buswise. To get to this campsite, you have to walk through the European Parliament grounds, so we were doing that when this man - a suited, white-bearded member of the European Parliament - started talking to us. I guess we probably looked lost or stupid. (We were maybe the latter, but we were not lost, probably.)

Anyway, he explained to us how to get to the campsite and chatted to us about what our plans were and that. He gave us this a little tiny, tiny book of the Charter of Fundamental Rights in the EU and sent his assistant off to get more of these little books, and talked with us about how Britain saw the EU and how the rest of Europe saw Britain. And it was really cool, and he was the friendliest guy, all joking about and suchlike. He gave us his business card, and it turns out he was one of the founders of the Green Party in Germany, which seems like a kind of cool thing to me.

So yeah. We wandered off and that, and had an awesome time.

Also, I had my hair cut at Poppy's request, in the style she explained to the hairdresser whilst I sat there feeling awkward. I'm starting to really like it though.

If there was going to be a Wes Anderson film on this list, why Rushmore?

Hey, and I handed in my notice yesterday. In one month, I will no longer be HMV's bitch. This fills me with mixed emotions.
