Hey everyone! I hope you've had a good weekend & are ready to start a fresh week. So far my Sunday has been great, it's sunny and breezy in Cleveland and almost feels like spring, though I'm sure we have more winter coming.
01. Last night my boyfriend and I watched the horror movie House of the Devil. Normally I'm not too into scary movies, but I really enjoyed this. It was filmed in a great retro style, so even though it was made in 2008, it looked like it could have been filmed in the late seventies/early eighties. The camera work was wonderful and reminded me a bit of The Shining. You can read some reviews on
Rotten Tomatoes (where it's rated as 87$ "fresh") & watch the trailer on
the official website. Fun fact: the cast features Mary Woronov, who had a starring role in Rock and Roll High School & used to dance on stage with the Velvet Underground. I also love the six retro posters done for the film - you can see all of them
here.
02. This morning I woke up to the sad news that Mark Linkous of the band Sparklehorse had taken his own life. You can read a write-up on Mark on
Pitchfork. I first remember hearing Sparklehorse on a nineties alternative CD compilation (it was the same comp that introduced me to the Pixies, PJ Harvey, and Sugar.) Their hit, "Someday I Will Treat You Good" will always be a favorite nineties song of mine.

Tiger Beatdown, is
now on Tumblr! If you're on tumblr, I highly recommend following her!
04.
ferrassie asked me to post a link to the blog
If Charlier Parker was a gunslinger, there'd be a whole lot of dead copycats, which posts amazing photos from all different realms of pop culture.
05.
False Start Distro is having a sale! Meredith carries tons of great zines, including old standbys like Doris and Brainscan, but also some lesser known faves of mine like I Hear You Like Stories.
