*can has new fandom!!!* Yes, again.
Still hanging with the BBC, I found Merlin (and an awesome individual on YouTube who has all the full-length episodes posted), and am in love.
I'm actually shocked because for the first time in a long time, I hate the fanfiction and love the canon. I have zero complaints about the canon. This never happens. Usually I love the canon, have an "except for ______" moment, seek out fanfic, and revel in the fandom.
But I'll be blunt. The vast majority of the fanfic sucks. I've only looked on the AO3 and FFnet, but I have found maybe two stories I like enough to favorite. I'm looking for more sophistication in what I read, which unfortunately strikes off most of FFnet, but I'm also looking for gen - which kills the better portion of the findings on the AO3. Want depth, complexity, accurate characterization. And long. And plotty. And well-written.
And I should probably stop bitching about fanworks. *le sigh*
