On the Baby Boy front -
growing like a weed! He was 85% percentile in both height and weight at his 2month checkup. How did my little hobbitling get so big??
Speaking of which, yes, I'm currently reading The Hobbit to him. :P I'll probably read him to him again when he gets old enough to actually listen to a story, lol.
I also still plan to write out his first few days' story, but I'm not sure if I'll post it here or not.
I started back to work last week, which has been bittersweet. I like being back at work (also I like having a paycheck to keep a roof over our heads) but miss being home with him during the day. On the plus side, I hadn't known until I got back that my workplace does in fact have a lactation room. Woot! So I have a daily reserved timeslot and that has helped a lot with my plan to continue exclusively breastfeeding baby boy for the next several months. Now if only there were a daily reservable nap I could take...
On the Fiddle front -
I can't believe I've been studying fiddle for over a year. Ok, and I can't believe I've been technically studying the fiddle for over a year and I'm not better at it than I am! I've improved a lot to be sure, but I still have a long, long way to go and my tendency towards *cough* shall we say an erratic practice schedule hasn't exactly helped? (I think I've seriously practiced twice since the baby was born, oi.)
On the other hand, I really like my new fiddle, "Buck" -a 1900s-ish (rough estimate) German-made violin that has a lot of surface damage but a great mellow sound. And a narrow neck that fits my hand so much better than the wider modern ones did. (He was also half the price of a decent sounding modern fiddle, which I admit, may have colored my decision-making somewhat!:P) Thus far I am avoiding putting the
fret sticker on him. I didn't realize how much I was still using that crutch until I started forcing myself to do without it! I also finally just this week got him back down to the music shop to get fine tuners on him. He'll be so much easier to practice with now as it takes so long for me to tune without them that a couple of times I missed practicing entirely because I didn't finish tuning before baby boy started crying.
On the Gaming front -
Still raiding in RIFT. After trudging through some seriously rough attendence issues where we thought for a bit the guild might collapse entirely, we just finally got the second boss of ID down yesterday. (woo!) So optimism is creeping back in and hopefully the guild will stay strong for a while.
Still have a SWTOR account, haven't played much. I see it's going free to play this fall! Also still occasionally logging on to Aion, but I haven't been able to sit down and DO anything significant in Aion like, say, run a dungeon since baby boy was born. No plans to pick up anything else at the moment, though if Rift were to implode we might try Guild Wars 2.
On the social front -
didn't make Play-On-Con at all, alas. We'd hoped to maybe drop by but between baby schedule and the family reunion Saturday we didn't even manage that.
GAMES NIGHT tomorrow though! Saturday, Aug 4th, 6pm at Ferret Rock if anyone's interested. Belated celebration of Kaz's 30th birthday (no gifts, though). We have Ascension, Power Grid, Settlers, Battlestar Galactica, Munchkin and more!
