Well Brandon's dad is okay. Turns out his kidney function was down (as was predicted by his wife), but not so serious as I had thought. He's been giving fluid through IV and yesterday he ate more food than he had in two weeks. Apparently with colorectal surgery, the small intestine needs to learn that it needs to do more work and actually reabsorb the water that the large intestine normally does, and until that happens, Mike needs to drink at LEAST twice the usual amount of fluid. If the fluid isn't absorbed through the intestines it's not getting to the kidneys and thus they shut down.
So, as long as he does that, he'll be fine! But he's stubborn, so we'll see.
This stubbornness runs through the entire family. This does not bode well for our children, methinks.
And what's up with this weather?! I'm going to enjoy it, of course, but I'd like to wear my fall clothes. Specifically the awesome new boots I bought myself for my birthday.
So, as long as he does that, he'll be fine! But he's stubborn, so we'll see.
