I had a really great time up in the Twin Cities. Ironically, I had fewer allergies staying at my Grandma and Aunt's apartment with their cat than I did here at my catless apartment. Maybe if I get a cat my allergies will diminish? *grin* I doubt it. It'd be nice if it worked that way, though.
We had a cooking extravaganza of a weekend. We did a vegetarian dinner for Thursday Thanksgiving dinner. We started with a strawberry, clementine, lettuce and balsamic salad. Lovely combination. Our main dish was a three layer pasta dish: tomato sauce and pasta, eggplant and mushroom, cheese. It was like a variation on lasagna. And we had a pumkin pie for desert. My poor grandma had to suffer with a vegetarian thanksgiving. And I got to see my Uncle and the cousins. It was good to see everyone, though I didn't get to see one of my cousins or his kids. Or my parents.
The next day we did go shopping and I managed not to buy too many things I didn't need, and all at little unique stores in Stillwater. So I didn't go with the buy-nothing theme, but I didn't support the big commercial stores, either. For dinner we started with snacking on pistachios and edameme. Dinner itself was pasta with marinated, breaded tofu and a homemade tomato sauce. I'll post the details in another post, because I want to keep track of that one!
Saturday was thanksgiving with the other side of the family. But first there was the making of a mushroom-spinach quiche for breakfast. What a crew that dinner was! I helped with the veggie stuff in the kitchen. Dinner was quite a spread, as per usual. I made sure I didn't overeat, so I had room for two slices of my grandma's apple pie and the ability to dance after a two hour nap.
Went out to Ground Zero and got my dancing in. I got to meet some new people, so that was spiffy. Didn't see anyone I knew though, and that surprised me. I was also surprised that I got comments on my outfit, but not my hair. Usually people make comments on my hair (or at least since I've had the spiral in the back of my head, they do!). Only one creepy encounter, after club was done. Someone I'd never talked to drove a full block beside me walking to my car trying to convince me to go home with him. *shiver* No thanks. What don't people understand about "no" the first time you say it?
May have committed a stupid act at club. I gave out my number to someone. Here's hoping he doesn't turn out to be creepy like the last person I didn't really know that I gave my number to at a club. He didn't give creepy vibes, though... Sounds like he's going to be in Madison sometime in December to visit a friend and wants to hang out with me, too. I guarantee it'll be in a public location if we do so.
This morning's cooking entailed banana pancakes with strawberries and a side of a vegetable dish that mimicks noodles. mmmmm... food!
