Whew.

It's hot... bloody hot. Direly hot. Japan's rainy season is officially over, and while I don't miss the humidity in the slightest, I wish the cloud cover would come back. I now have a sunburn, and all I did was step outside to do my laundry. Sheesh. It's something around 104F, adding into all the bitty weather factors that make life hell ( Read more... )

Not bad... but the connection with Disney has had a less than positive effect. Looked rather flat. On the other hand, the starter before it was superb. Called Ghibli Studio Episode 2 (noooo, they're not Star Wars fans...), all about the trials of office life at Ghibli. Hysterical, and chock full of innovative animation. Bloody brilliant. I want to see Episode 1. Badly. It looked like they let the animators loose, ala Fantasia... but with the same characters instead of a musical leash.

The actual film... Well, no spoilers, but was more European twee in feel. I'm rather spoiled, I suspect, because I got to see Spirited Away at Richard's before he left... and whoosh, that was -amazing-.

The other anime fans in my office were talking just last night about Chobbits - first I'd ever heard of it. Then you mention it in this post... wild. Think fate is telling me that I should check it out.

It's Clamp. Says lots for those who know... more interesting to me in the skillful use of computer 'cel' work. Very lovely, best I've seen yet. And the opening tune is lovely. Otherwise... Saying that, I shipped to Richard (and I hope it got there before he left) a Chobbit-y thing for the Otakon art show. Shocking, ne?

Well, there's nothing more for it; we'll have to send you an umbrella hat. Easier than carrying a huge leaf around. :D

BTW -- if one wanted to snail-mail you things, how would you go about it? (Besides the obvious of putting it in a box and taking it to the post office) And are there any American thingies that you might be missing?

I've been doing well enough so far with the sun. Damned if I expected to burn whilst on the back porch hanging up towels. Sheesh.

American thingies... they have more there than I've ever seen in England. I have been reunited with Oreos here, to the woe of my waistline. And Richard gave me all sorts of stuff before he left, none of which I've had in years: Hamburger Helper, Countrytime Lemonade... deja vu.

Main trouble is figuring out shampoos... :P

I can flick you my address off-journal. But keep in mind I'll only be here another month... want anything? Can you run Region 2 DVDs?
