It's hot... bloody hot. Direly hot. Japan's rainy season is officially over, and while I don't miss the humidity in the slightest, I wish the cloud cover would come back. I now have a sunburn, and all I did was step outside to do my laundry. Sheesh. It's something around 104F, adding into all the bitty weather factors that make life hell.
Got Sarah off to England alright Sunday, despite lack of sleep and coherency. Was due to meet Ardith for the Osaka Doujinshi convention... and almost canceled out. I was exhausted, hot, and filthy feeling. Thankfully, the airport's hotel permits visitors to use their 'relaxation spa'... for a fee, admittedly, but had free towels and robes, a sauna (my first try... have to admit, was just like standing outside...) and no time limit on the shower. Wonderful. So I did go to the event... It was smaller than previously (by lots) and I restrained myself to buying only what really appealed. So now have fab artbook by the pros who created Jane, a lovely Count Cain doujinshi (bloody hard to find... and argh, part 3) and a super neat Chobbits set with mousepad. Hoorah! Only sad point was that I'd been hoping to meet Kano-san and interview her about doing fan-manga for my dissertation, but no dice, she wasn't able to attend.
How Ardith, poor thing, managed to keep me coherent is beyond me. I think by the time we wandered onto the NewTram, I was in that way-hey zone. Tripping all over the place, and making the kind of brilliant witticisms that one does when sleep-deprived. "Ooh, shiny!" I think I was having con-flashbacks. I did have fun, lots, but next time, I get some sleep beforehand.
Spent the past two days doing my laundry and sorting out what I can send back early to the UK in boxes. Bleah. Ran away today.... and, heh, be jealous, people! I have in my pocket a ticket to see the new Studio Ghibli movie in an hour!! Whoo!!! Sequel to Mimi o Sumaseba... the story of Baron... Yes!!
