Thanksgiving

Well, last Wednesday was interesting. Melissa and I started off the day by heading into Boston while singing "We're Off to See the Wizard!"...at least until we got to the bottom of the street and realized we had to run because the bus was early! (Luckily for us, the driver saw that we weren't going to make it to the stop before he was and just stopped for us anyway. He must be new.) After pestering people at NEHGS about all the people who weren't there, we hit some stores in an attempt to do some Christmas shopping...and failed miserably! Eventually we made our way over to Fire & Ice for some lunch, and were treated to the sight of the manager (tie and all) rolling up his sleeve and pitching in to cook! One of the other cooks even managed to pull one over on Melissa, pretending he was going to dump her sauce on the wrong food. She took it rather well, considering it's not exactly a good idea in general to mess with Melissa's food! We then took a walk through the Public Gardens even though it was still a bit misty and were treated to the sight of the roses still blooming! They were maybe a little worse for wear, but the smell still managed to permeate the damp air. Unfortunately, the day ended soon after as Melissa wasn't feeling well.

Thanksgiving actually went rather well this year. The food was good, we had extra enjoyable company (even if they were from Jersey!), nobody got too grouchy and my grandmother actually stayed all afternoon. (My aunt insists she's going on a cruise next year instead, probably because she realizes it will never be this good again!) And as always, Italian Saturday was enjoyable! I even managed to look like an adult this year and wore...a SKIRT. (I can't remember the last time I wore a skirt just for the fun of it!)
