Firstly, I would like to say that my oldest niece is now wearing training bras. SHE IS GOING INTO THE THIRD GRADE. WHAT THE HELL. I don't recall wearing bras until fifth grade, maybe fourth. She's a petite Asian. We don't get boobs early or very big.

Noooooo. Part-time Mommy!Leila is about to flip her shit. Especially knowing that even with giving the oldest nephew a "What's Going on Down There?" book, it will still most likely be up to me to give him the birds & bees talk as well as his sister. He's already gotten the "period" talk, which some have scoffed at seeing as how he is male, but I refuse to let him be one of those idiot boys who gets all squeamish when period talk arises, or worse, admonishes a girl for bringing it up. Saying he doesn't need to know about it because it doesn't happen to him is like saying girls don't need to know about erections because they don't have penises.
I would much rather he be the type of future boyfriend/hubby to say, "Oh, periods? Eh. No big deal. I grew up with four big aunties."
But this also means I need to be prepared to give the girl the period talk soon, tho. At least so she's not all *SHOCK* when she's suddenly bleeding all over her underwear. Her parents certainly won't tell her.
Leila: "When you run around a lot, does your chest hurt really bad, like your nipples are burning from rubbing against your shirt?"
Zin: *VIGOROUS NODDING*
I then proceeded to amuse her with an anecdote detailing how I announced to my prom party the havoc playing DDR in my prom dress was wreaking on my boobies.
The other is that I accidentally stayed up all night (accidentally meaning suddenly the sun was up and I decided not to sleep) being all nerdy reading up on the Batman universe and have found a reaaaaally interesting fic writer that will keep me busy for at least the next two weeks straight if not longer because all of his/her fics are novel-length. So detailed, they weave a lot of "real life" with everything from the comics, so much so that I'm driven to research the things they are referencing and elaborating on.
And it's not just Bruce and Selina. I keep looking into the various Robins, trying to get them all sorted out in my mind, their romantic ties, setbacks, etc.
It's kind of scary, the obsession.
