So, I got connected on Friday. I will now relate the tale of their first fuckup(with me). I doubt it'll be the last.

I had a wonderful Virgin Media experience last year. They connected two lines to my phone line last May about a week before we were supposed to leave for Bahrain.

My phone line is completely fucked! Everything coming in to me sounds like train station tannoy anouncements except worse! Echoing all over the place and impossible to understand. I finally managed get through to someone who has booked a technician for Saturday morning.

The echo was the second line.

My phone number appears to have suddenly randomly changed!!! After the 1899 service didn't recognise my number I tried phoning my mobile.
My phone number appears to have changed. It is no longer 0131 659 5972.
It's now 0131 258 1674.
Tried phoning my REAL landline number from my mobile and it does ring but the ring sound is all wrong.
Calling the 'new' number from my mobile makes my landline ring properly.
Edit: Both numbers reach me. Mark proved that. I guess that's where the echo is coming from.
Good thing the technician is coming round tomorrow.

Virgin Media guy has arrived. He didn't believe the 'two numbers' saga until I dialled the 1899 freephone number*. The first line to kick in says 'This number isn't registered. To register . . . If you think you have already registered you may have entered the wrong number. The number you are dialling from is . . .' - not my number.
Followed a few seconds later by my proper line saying 'Please enter the number you wish to dial followed by the # key.' I dialled my mobile and it started to ring as the other line was reading out the phone number which isn't mine.
Turns out that the other phone number belongs to someone in the next stair and they've just reported a lack of dial tone! I wonder where it went. It's nothing to do with their installation as that happened in February. The technician has gone to look at the outside box thingy to see if he can figure out what's going on. He's not even sure he knows how to fix it. Oh dear.

Tis fixed! I was right. There really were two lines connected to my one. The owner of the other line won't be getting hers sorted until Monday. The guy would've done it just now but he didn't have time.

*it's a cheap call service thingy that saves me £1.30/minute on calls to Bahrain

Yay for 9p/min phone calls to Bahrain!
