I had a fun birthday yesterday. I don't think I have ever been on the beach on my birthday before. It was low tide and there were tidepools with little mollusks in them.
The kids sang happy birthday to me in English then in Hebrew. The beach and Happy Birthday in Hebrew will make 23 stand out from all other birthdays. Some of the girls got overexcited that it was my birthday--when I went to the gym, they were all hanging out at the JCC waiting for their parents to pick them up and mobbed me as though I were a celebrity, squealing. Gotta love that enthusiasm. Even though I've only known them a week, we all got to hang out a lot when we went to "summer camp" for the middle school retreat and went on a terrible death-defying hike through the mountains and chaparral region.
I am listening to "Under Control" by Sparky's Flaw right now, a band from Charlottesville. That is their new song.
http://www.myspace.com/sparkysflaw I am off work for these two days due to Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. This is a relief because I have been sick with a sinus infection, stuffy headed and exhausted basically, so I am just going to rest.
