Wow, what a week this has been

I've spent most of it doing my damnedest to try and patch things up with a certain someone by phone, email, carrier pigeon, etc. It's been pretty rough, because I know she's got more then a few legitimate points, and what I did was dumber then dirt, but I think things are finally basically okay between us. I'll tell you, though, I'll never make another mistake like that again, and I hope she can eventually really forgive me, not just say she has.

On the business front, though, things haven't been looking too encouraging. My mechanic hasn't been able to qualify for the loan, and as it turns out, he's got a few black marks on his credit that he never let on about before, so there's no way I can afford to come down as much as he'd need me to. So I started looking into just plain listing it, trying to figure out what all my options are, etc., which is also looking a little bleak. The general consenses seems to be that businesses aren't exactly selling right now, no matter how stable or seemingly recession-proof. The lucky ones are getting sucked up by giant corporat chains, and a lot of the smaller ones, unfortunately, are going under.

So my mechanic kind of got into it with me at work, begging me to please be patient awhile more, he's hoping he'll be able to qualify before long, blah blah blah. So I told him, it don't look promising that it's going to happen anytime soon, loans of any kind being what they are. And guess what? One of my other mechanics, who I don't think has said more then about five words since he started, overheard us and came over to put in his two cents worth about it. It seems he's been thinking about going into business for himself for awhile now, but he's too nervous to actually haul off and do it, because there's too many things he don't know about, businesswise. And while the other guy's full of hot air at times, he actually does kind of know a lot of the business end of it. The quiet little guy knows his trade, though. I mean, he even figures out faster than I do what's wrong with a given car half the time.

So now they're looking into the idea of going in together on buying it. So I'm crossing my fingers, that could end up going a hell of a lot more smoothly. They ended up stopping off for a few drinks after work, and invited me to join them, but I decided it's probably better if I don't. Face it, if they're going to do something like going into business together, the biggest favor they could do themselves right now is just plain get to know each other as soon as possible in a quick hurry.

That, and I'm exhausted. I feel a lot more relieved and optimistic, though.
