journey sha talaga..

when i heard that the movie journey to the center of the world was made for a 3D movie house, i was excited to see it, knowing it's the first full length 3D hollywood film. beowulf, i think, was also a 3D film and was featured on IMAX, but then that was done entirely in CG.

upon hearing about journey being a full length 3D film, i texted pololo and asked if they had it in MOA IMAX. they didn't carry it there, but they had it in SM North Edsa's The Block 3D theater. i didn't know that the block had a 3D theater (or was it just transformed into a 3D theater for this one? do they show normal movies on regular days?). i haven't seen any movie at the block since we would always watch in trinoma.

there weren't much people inside the movie house so that was a relief, considering it's an adventure film for kids, i was expecting a noisy theater. funny, the block, being a new "wing" of SM, i thought, would have better, newer cinemas. but as i was queueing for tickets, there was a familiar sign in front of me. it read "premiere" or "deluxe." and it reminded me of highschool. i never enjoyed the premiere section of the movie house because it felt like watching on television. before, i would often even sit right in front (ROW A) of the movie house and enjoy the hugeness of the screen! haven't done it in a long time, definitely didn't take the front row on this film!

anyway, the movie was actually a lot of fun!! i enjoyed every minute of it, thanks to the 3D glasses. i wouldn't recommend anyone to watch it on regular movie houses because it would just be a bore. with out the 3Dness, the whole movie would've felt like a B movie with brendan frasier.

apart from slight heavy unnecessary drama, the adventure/action sequences were great, the 3D effect played a huge part in the movie. of course, there were scenes that were nakakagulat, and i love it. the piranha scenes, venus flytrap and dinosaur scenes were the best. also, the scene that had the fluttering birds was a visual delight. ang sarap nilang hawakan! hehe.

the only thing that lacked were the moving seats. if our seats moved, it would've been the best. haha.

oh, the movie costs 300 bucks! sosyal. but i think it's worth it. it's not everyday that you can catch such a film. so if i were you, drop by the block and catch this film. don't expect a great movie with a great story, you won't get it. but expect a fun, three dimensional visual delight.
