Just a Line in a Song...

I finally wrote all my thank you notes today. Go me. Michelle and I left my house at about 4:30 to take her car to the emissions testing place in Naperville. We finally got there at ten til. TEN TIL SIX, that is. And it closes at six. Go us. Then, we drove to Target so I could spend gift card money from graduation presents. Yay! We spent about an hour reading cards that we had no intention of buying, because we are easily amused. For lack of anything better to do, we went to Wendy's (WENDY'S?!!) and then to our park. By "ours" I mean Me, Kari, Jackie, and Michelle's, from that one night when we absolutely NEEDED to get outta the house. We sat on the playgroung on top of the slides reading magazines (our new favorite form of mindless entertainment!) and eating Milano cookies until it got too dark to see. However, instead of giving up, we left the magazines AND the cookies there while we ran back to Target to buy flashlights. Yes, I'm serious. We got a little distracted by the purse/scarf section (hey, we ARE girls, after all) but we made it back eventually and this time we had light! And, thanks to Michelle's well equiped trunk, a sleeping bag to sit on. So, sleeping bag, cookies, magazines, park, middle of the night. It was so random, it was great. Oh yes, and how can I forget the car couple? Heh. When we got to the park, there were no people around, but there were 2 cars parked head to head in the parking lot. A truck and an SUV. Again... no people around. We faced the cars the whole time, and NO ONE came near them. Then, 2 hours later, we see a man and woman get out of the SUV. He got into the truck, and she went around to the driver's seat of the SUV. The pulled out to the street, stopped for a minute while she got out of the SUV, adjusted her skirt (I'm dead serious!), opened the back door and put the back seat back up, and got back in the driver's seat. Then, they both drove off, as Mish and I cracked up. Hilarious. Especially since not long ago we had read an artical about "Steamy Summer..." well, you know. ;) Ah, young love. At about 11:30, I called Rich to say hi. We might do something tomorrow. Anyway, Mish and I decided that we felt like driving, so we got into her car and just... went. Nowhere in particular. Rt 31 is actually quite fun to drive at night. Especially when you randomly end up in Elgin and don't get back to A town til after 1am. (FYI, the casino boat in Elgin looks hella cool on the river at night.) Some jerk almost hit us on the way home, totally his fault. We took down the license plate number, but then didn't do anything about it anyway. Oh well.

It was a fun day in a random sort of way.
