this week was definately the week of worrying about my pets. camilla (my cat) had a mammary lump when we got her but it seemed to be getting bigger so I brought her into work on wednesday to aspirate it. it turns out her mass is just a "hair matrix tumor"... no clue what that is but I am going to look it up. on wednesday night my leopard gecko had blood in her urine and had not been pooping so I took her to work on friday. we took some x-rays, gave her subcutaneous fluids and some medication for her stomach ache. the doctor thinks she is impacted in her gut with sand (the substrate in the tank) so we put her on some antibiotics and an appetite/bowel stimulant to help pass the sand. we are going to re-do the x-rays in a week and see if there is any progress. otherwise we might have to do surgery! my poor little girl. I had to take the sand out of her tank and put in paper towels which looks strange and I can tell she hates it cause she is now sitting on her rock instead of hiding under it like usual.
