day two...

Apr 24, 2005 16:31

unfortunately two-year olds don't yet know the joy of sleeping late.
on this trip, sleeping late meant 7:15am...

this morning was typical of all our mornings in california:
awoken by langston-alarm.  luckily only one morning was a screaming, in the bad way, wake-up call.
breakfast, then out to admire the view and cool morning temperatures, and run along the grass.
after the excursion outside there was usually the call for 'monsters', and either the watching of monsters, or whatever was on pbs kids.  sadly, i have now watched barney. it still hurts my head.
then either i or jifse would hop in the shower while the other entertained/tried to get langston ready.
some days this task was easier than others. sometimes, the boy just doesn't want to wear pants; or a shirt; or a diaper.

but we finally get everybody ready, call the in-laws, and head out on the day's adventures.
sunday's adventure began with breakfast out. that morning i didn't have breakfast, so this was good, and langston can always eat more. i had a very good ham-egg-and-cheese croisant. mmmmm.
then we headed off to an art fair. it was fun to wander around the different booths, see really expensive stuff that i, for the most part, did not want.  we did see a tie-dye place and of course needed to get langston some.  he got a floppy hat (which he needed because we didn't have a hat for him), and a shirt that's reds, oranges, and yellows and has a smiley face in the middle.  he looks so cute in it!

by about noon we were all hot and tired and langston was ready for a nap. back home: nap for langston;  relaxing for us.  when langston awoke, it was off to the pool time. for as hot and sunny as it seems, unless you were directly in the sun it wasn't that hot, and if the breeze was blowing, it was chilly. so, swimming was fun, but cold at first.  luckily we could warm up in the hot tub. then back in the pool to play with langston some more. i taught him to blow bubbles in the watter (paddlz would be so proud).  langston also was very helpful in pointing out how deep the water was, 'i see three' in the three foot section.  very astute.

after the pool it was back to the ranch to clean up and dechloronate. then back to the in-laws for dinner, back home and to bed.
