The Dogwalker never saw him coming...

This is a random story I wrote in one of my classes:

Charlie, walking along the autumn street came upon the corner store. He enters, greeting the middle-eastern employee with a nod and a half smile. “To be a convenience store worker,” he thought. “What interesting people he must meet.” Secretly he envied Ahmed. Secretly, Ahmed knew that he did. Charlie walks to the dairy section, stops, browses momentarily and then settles on a jug of milk. On his way to the checkout counter, he walks down the aisle of cereals. Rows upon rows of boxed heaven line as far as the eye can see. He reaches for an old friend, Lucky Charms, but his hand falls short on a box of Honey Bunches of Oats. “Perhaps something new today.” He makes his way to the checkout, giving Ahmed his tender. Ahmed half smiles as Charlie leaves. He’s always hated that son of a bitch. Charlie makes his way home, milk and cereal in hand. He walks down his street then stops in front of his building. He gazes up the brick apartment building, lined with white trim and his eyes settle on his window. Charlie notices the single pot of impatiens on his ledge have finally dwindled and died. “Didn’t even have to jump.” After unlocking the front door he takes to the stairs. He climbs the four flights and stands in front of his door. He inserts his key and shakes the handle. He drops his bundle on the table and takes a bowl and spoon. He pours the cereal and then the milk. He takes his last bite. “Different, yet exciting.” Satisfied he pushes away from his full bowl and takes to the window. He opens it and leans out.
