Голодовщику Хадеру Аднану грозит смерть

Дорогие друзья и коллеги!
Хадеру Аднану, который держит голодовку, протестуя против административного ареста, грозит смерть. Он держит "ирландскую голодовку", принимая только воду и отказавшись от любых минералов, включая соль, и витамины.
В нарушение кодекса врачебной этики, он прикован к кровати за руку и за ногу, что допустимо на короткое время лишь в случаях, когда человек представляет непосредственную опасность для себя и для других.
В 2012 году после длительной голодовки он был освобожден из административного ареста, но в прошлом году вновь лишен свободы и начал теперешнюю голодовку в ответ на продление срока ареста.
В свете сказанного, "Врачи за права человека" опасаются за его жизнь и требуют его немедленного освобождения.

Палестинца, голодающего 55 дней, отпустят
37-летнего палестинца Хадера Аднана, голодающего в знак протеста против задержания уже 55 дней, согласились отпустить власти Израиля. В июле прошлого года силы безопасности Израиля задержали мужчину по подозрению в причастности к деятельности экстремистской группировки.
Следует напомнить, что с момента задержания Аднану так и не были выдвинуты официальные обвинения. В связи с этим Пан Ги Мун, генсек ООН, обратился к властям Израиля с просьбой отпустить мужчину или же предъявить обвинения.
В настоящее время палестинец находится в критическом состоянии. Отметим, что палестинец Хадер Аднан, узнав о своем скором освобождении, принял решение вновь вернуться к нормальному режиму питания.

KHADER ADNAN - on hunger strike in protest of his administrative detention - faces danger of death.
Khader Adnan, hospitalized in Assaf Harofeh hospital, today enters the 50th day of his hunger strike. Unlike previous hunger strikes, Adnan is following the so-called “Irish strike model”, taking only water while refusing minerals (including salt) and vitamins. According to the medical literature, serious and life-threatening complications are to be expected in an exclusively water-based hunger strike exceeding 42 days.
ADNAN cuffed to his bed by both hand and foot, in violation of the medical ethical code, which states that only an individual posing immediate danger to himself or others may justify the use of restraint for a short period of time.
Adnan, released from administrative detention in 2012 following a prolonged hunger strike, was rearrested about a year ago, and started his current hunger strike in response to his administrative detention being extended. In addition to avoiding food and supplements, Adnan refuses medical examinations or any kind of medical treatment. Yesterday, during a visit from Advocate Samar Samaan on behalf of Physicians for Human Rights, Adnan reported a serious deterioration in his condition. Physicians for Human Rights-Israel (PHR-Israel) fear a further turn for the worst in his condition at any moment which might lead to his death.
In addition, a doctor on behalf of PHR-Israel who visited Adnan last week at his request reported that he was cuffed to his bed by both hand and foot, in violation of the medical ethical code, which states that only an individual posing immediate danger to himself or others may justify the use of restraint for a short period of time. During a visit by the chairman of the Israeli Medical Association, Dr. Leonid Eidelman, last Friday (19 June), Adnan was untied at the Eidalman’s request, only to be restrained again later. Yesterday PHR-Israel addressed a demand to the Israel Prison Service (IPS) to remove his restraint without delay. It was argued, among other things, that, in light of his medical condition, “his ability to constitute any kind of ‘danger’ to anyone is negligible. We see fit to point out the health damage and unnecessary humiliation that might be caused to an individual who is in such a bad and sensitive state, from being cuffed to bed during most hours of the day”.
In light of the above, Physicians for Human Rights-Israel expresses concern for Adnan’s life and calls for his immediate release. The organization further calls to end the use of administrative detention, which has become a key mechanism in Israel’s oppression of political dissent among Palestinians.
