i could have called this entry "my first successful internet-based date", but didnt. deal with it.
so, here he is:
Had my first OKCupid date last night, and boy-oh-boy, was it fun. Greg, (yay! not another J name!) is awesome. He teaches & is a lab nerd down at Stanfurd (haha, yes, Cal's one and only enemy) and enjoys tinkering with cars and taking walks. seriously. i know! could he *be* any more appropriate?
if you want to look for yourself, here's his link:
http://okcupid.com/profile?u=iSayCarpeNoctem# For our date, he picked me up and we went to L'Amyx (
http://lamyx.com/) my favorite tea shop these days over on Piedmont. We sat in a window seat and chatted for an hour. Then off to dinner at one of my favorite Thai places (Bangkok Thai on University) for a couple hours and then over to the Albatross for an adult beverage (my favorite local watering hole). our date lasted from 5pm to Midnight-ish
I wish i could recall what the hell we talked about, but since we touched on everything under the sun, i dont know if i can.
i do know we talked about: families, friends, past school experience, MRIs (his work), my current classes, our most recent relationships, views on STD testing, views on religion - is there a god is a bad first date discussion i thought, but that didnt stop us, we talked connect-four (our game of choice at the albatross), interests, past-time activities, medical marijuana, AI, types of sex (including somewhat kinky sex), i told him my "worst. sex. ever." story, he told me some funny sex stories (including how to flirt with a girl in Germany when you dont speak the language.. hahah omg) straight girls who turn bi-curious, straight guys that dont, gay people who change their preference, NJ, CA, my cats, betas, the power struggle known as my school career, poly-relationships, poly-stereotypes, poly-struggles, monogamy centered society, monogamists, safety words, "types" in romantic sense, the "what am i looking for" talk, beer and liquor preferences, seating arrangements and preferences in school, and teaching.
during all this time, we were light on the touching, you know, a leg pat or arm touch here or there. at the bar, i just let my hand rest on his leg - hey, i like to be clear in my signals - but we didnt kiss until he drove me home. i asked him if he'd like to go out again, and he said yes. we got out and kissed for a minute, enjoying being close to each other. Then we both smiled like we were kids in a candy store, and i was off like a little bunny, bounding up the walkway to my apartment.
it's so funny when people say they dont kiss on a first date, i mean, why not? if it went well enough, give 'em one. something to think about on the drive home, you know? it's not like i put my hand down his pants (or vice versa).
so. greg. yeah, i'd like to see him again. i sent him an email expressing that i had a fun time and sending him links to Josh, Jeremy, Matt, Jaron, Justin and a couple more so he could see that i really do have "a type" and i tried to venture out when i dated Jeremy (my non-type)... and it didnt go so well, you could say.
all in all, i had a great night with a neat guy who i hope to see again.
i should note that LEXIE IS AMAZING for suggesting the site for me. i was skeptical and was proven wrong. hearts all around.
