No question that the French triumphs in style. However, I disagree that British fashion is better than Italian fashion. Sure, they have Savile Row, Top Shop, and Burberry. However, Europeans voted the Britons with the worst fashion sense (1). This dude probably has not read The Satorialist take on Italian style. The people on streets of Italy tend to dress to the nines. What about the Italian Cut and Alexandra's 5 Reasons Why London is Not the World's Fashion Capital. The New York Times has an article about British and Italian style (2).
I won't comment about the state of dress in the US. Long time ago, Americans used to dress impeccably well. I can assure you that there are people who haven't abandon all propriety like people of Walmart.
