Review of "Wanted" (Spoiler under the cut)
I went into Wanted prepared to really like it because:
(a) Angelina Jolie (makes this automatic three-star expectation)
(b) Morgan Freeman (bumps this to automatic four-star expectation)
(c) directed by Timu Bekmambetov, who also did Night Watch, Day Watch, and the upcoming Twilight Watch Just knowing he directed this alone bumps this up to a five-star expectation. Bonus: Night Watch and Day Watch main actor Konstantin Khabensky is also in Wanted.
Story was entertaining, effects were impressive, especially the slow motion, panoramic shots and sheer fantasy that is characteristic of Bekmambetov. However, story gets downgraded to three stars for unnecessary rat abuse. >:( Grr.
