For a WOW-type game without the requirement to join a guild or a monthly fee, etc, you could try Neverwinter Nights (original or 2). It's traditional fantasy gameplay with various character classes and it does not require online co-op play. The best part is that once you are through the quests that came with the game you can become part of the HUGE gaming community for this game and download and install player-made campaigns and maps. You don't get special-release mounts like in WOW because it's more of a closed world but the player-made quests are often said to be better than the official ones so it really does have that modding community going for it. It's like Sims Medieval except with actual killing, lots of magic, far-ranging quests and an organised community that has turned the game into way more than what just came out of the box. Remind you of another game that a lot of people around here seem to play?

I'm really glad I asked about games though, because now I have a huge list of games to check out and see if they'll fit with my gaming style. Thanks for the input! The Neverwinter Nights sounds interesting too, they only part I worry about is the killing and things because I always end up dead. To say I don't have a military/fighting gaming mind would be a HUGE understatement. ^.^
