Bought the kids bikes this weekend!  They haven't had bikes in forever because there is no place to ride near our house.  The street we live on is a busy secondary road that everyone speeds down (a car flipped over and landed in my nieghbors driway last year!).  Plus there are so few flat areas to ride on it would be a major undertaking to load up ( Read more... )

Thanks! I hope so too! I spent way to much on them to have them sit unused in the basement.

We're getting the boys big bikes this year too. We've been in a 2nd floor apt. for the past 3 years and I had no interest in lugging bikes up & down the stairs. Now that were in a house, with a long driveway and a pad in back I think its time. :) I'm sure they'll have a great summer!

Lugging bikes upstairs would have been a pain. I'm sure they'll love having bikes!

It is a fun family activity but Ed and I don't have bikes. Of course now that the kids are zooming all over he place I can see the wheels turning in his head about getting us some.

What part of PGH are you from? I live right near the airport and we always use the Montour trail. Plenty of flat land to ride over there. :)

I didn't know yo were in my neck of the woods :) We live just outside Pittsburgh in the South Hills. We've been here for 7 years and we love the small town feel right next to the city. Ed grew up in Pgh and I grew up near Boston, MA so we have to have urban nearby.

Yep, that's how I remembered you from the meet other moms group. :)

I think that's awesome you live right outside the city. We literally live a stones throw (you can see the air traffic control tower from Pi ttsburgh International on the next street over) from PIA, in Moon. I love living in the suburbs although at times I miss public transport and taking the kids to Frick Park, the zoo, and the museum and not a heavy haul back to the suburbs. :/

How do you deal with the planes? I took a few classes at the Moon campus of RMU and they were taking off and landing all the time!
