Last night was a doozy.
Ed and I watched Transformers, which was a fairly long movie, so we ended up going to bed 30 minutes later than usual. Little did we know that we could have used those extra 30 minutes of sleep!
At 12:30, Thomas came into our room complaining that his belly hurt. He didn't feel nauseous, just a pain in his stomach. I felt bad for him, but there wasn't anything we could do. I told him to take a drink of water and head back to bed. We didn't hear from him the rest of the night, and he was fine this morning so maybe it was an uncomfortable poo making its way through him or something.
About an hour later, I got woken up by Aeryn. She was screaming-crying. I went to check on her and almost as soon as I picked her up, she fell to sleep in my arms. I don' t know if it was a sore throat, stuffy nose, belly pains or what. I cuddled and rocked her for a while and then laid her back down. She cried for a few minutes and went back to sleep.
An hour later, she woke up crying again. This time I didn't go to her right away. I wanted to see if she was just crying in her sleep (she does that occasionally.) She quieted down after 5 minutes.
An hour later, she was crying again. This time she woke both me and Ed up.
My wonderful husband took that shift and soothed her for about 10 minutes and put her back down. She cried for another 5 minutes before falling asleep again.
At 4:30 am, she woke up again! I let her cry for 10 minutes and then decided that maybe her throat was hurting so I prepared a dropper of Infant Tylenol. As soon as I was ready to go in her room to give it to her....
she stopped crying!
I got up at 6 am. Usually I get up at 6:30, but I figured she'd be waking
up any moment so I ate breakfast and showered quickly. Of course by the time I was stepping out of the shower she was awake again.
By the time I got her ready to go to the sitters she was rubbing her eyes.
I hope she's not too much of a handful today. Cranky babies are no fun : (
Now I'm home and I have a couple extra kids. Luckily they are well behaved. Not doing their homework.... but well behaved : )
Aeryn seems to be in better spirits. She did get one good nap today. All I ask is that we don't have a repeat of last night.
We're watching Transformers again today. The kids were in bed when Ed and I watched it so now we'll watch it with them after dinner. I love having something like this to hold over Thomas's head to make sure he behaves.
And I'm off to make meatloaf and mashed taters for dinner!!
