A new world, or so they had thought. Earth was supposed to be their new world, their new chance. Now it was more like their last chance. A last chance already gone horribly wrong.

Lee looked around him and sighed at the devastation he saw. The destroyed buildings across the water on the horizon taunted him with their air of modernistic beauty. The vision was much like that of Caprica City and the thought of his home also a destroyed nuclear wasteland lanced through him. The knowledge that the Cylons had used an EM burst, that much of the city wasn't destroyed, and that they had restored a major portion of the city's plant life didn't make him feel any better.

He looked again at the ruins that lay closer, strewn about the shore that he was walking along. These seemed to be ruins of a much older city. The domed roof, reminisent of the picture of the Temple of Aurora from the book of Pythia, lay before him. The temple that he and Kara had pledged to walk the halls of together. Only now there were no halls to walk.

Framed by those ruins was Kara, the devastation on her face spoke to him of his own. Only her's was deeper. There'd be no way that he'd be able to convince her that this disaster wasn't her fault. She'd been the one to finally discover the ultimate clue that lead them here. She'd searched for so long, with such intensity. Now all she had from that effort was a ruin.

He feared for her. The people already thought her a Cylon. A Cylon who now was revealed as a betrayer who'd led their civilization to it's death, led their species to it's death also. There was no way humanity could survive here; not so few of them, not with the polluted ground they faced, the radiation. Low as it was it still foretold eventual death.

He shook his head. She'd probably be thinking all of those things. He needed to be the strong one now; needed to give them hope. He walked to her and tried to draw her to him. she tried to pull away but he wouldn't let her. "Whatever happens we have to stay together. We have to make our own world, it's the only way we'll survive. The world that's in our hearts and souls that says we're one." He reached down and taking her face in his hands drew her toward him and gave her a sweet kiss.

She tried to pull away from him again but he reached down and pulled her back. "It's not going to work Lee, it's over." He still would not let her go.

"No Kara, stay with me. Walk these halls with me and make them ours, our dream, our life. It's the only way we can survive, we need each other's strength."

"I have no strength." He scowled at her but pulled her back to his side.

"Then lean on me, this time I'm not going to let you go, not going to lose you." He lead her into the shattered ruins to the edge of the collapsed dome and took her in his arms pulling her head to his chest. This time he would keep her with him no matter what.

30 kisses
