so last night we got home from the british virgin islands. it was tres fun! below i will do a link so that if you wish you can read about our wonderful trip in detail. also i am putting pictures from that on my website very soon.
so today my mom and i ran errands and then spent time looking for prom dresses. i swear to god i am the pickiest girl in all of massachusetts. so now i'm here unpacking from the bvi trip and doing laundry so i can start packing for san francisco. tomorrow my dad and i are going to san fran and staying til sunday and my mom and brother are flying out thursday night for the weekend. my dad just called to say he rented a mustang convertible so we can drive out to stanford and uc berkeley. :) woot woot. even though it's supposed to rain all week...oh vell. it will still be really fun. i'm getting used to this vacation life.
Monday 3/14 Got up very early and Megan and Margaret got dropped at my house and we all drove into Logan together. Got dropped at Logan by my dad and met up with Evan and Cathy (Evan's mom) at the gate. Our first flight was to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Ev flipped out during takeoff and we watched Eurotrip on Cathy's iBook. Gotta love the laptops. Got a delay in San Juan so we ate mini Dominoe's pizzas (soo cute) and met Shakira's look alike. haha. Finally got on the mini plane that flew us out to Tortola. Got to Tortola and walked through this mud path to a restaurant where the captain of our boat (Captain Dan) met us. Apparently we just missed a huge thunder storm so that was really lucky. He took us out to Chocolat Blanc which we toured and swam, then got ready for dinner and took the dinghy over to a restaurant called The Last Resort on this tiny island. It was a really cute restaurant but the food took forever and the live music was horrible so we were all pretty pissy, cause we just wanted sleep. So we just went back to the boat and went to bed.
Tuesday 3/15 Got up very early and swam laps around the boat. Took showers off the side of the boat using a fresh water hose (funny) and laid out in the gorgeous sun all day. Motored over to Virgin Gorda (another island) and went shopping at a little resort called the West End. Megan got her hair done up in braids. Then headed over to Bitter End Yacht Club which was another resort. Cooked dinner on the boat and hten got dressed and went to Bitter End for the night. Hung out, danced, met some boys from Rivers and Milton, they were chartering a catameran like us. pretty sweet. Then went back to the boat and went to bed.
Wednesday 3/16 Sailed from Virgin Gorda to another island called Anegada. That was a really long sail but it was really cool cause Anegada was only 9 ft above sea level at highest. All the other islands in the BVI's are volcanic so they are really mountainous, but this one was really flat. Took a taxi over to a beach and went snorkeling in the coral for a long time...so beautiful. Then Megan and I found this shady place under a ton of trees and went to sleep to be out of the sun. Driving across Anegada we saw lots of nocturnal cows and goats..pretty cool. Went back to the boat for our "shower" and then went to a tiny little restaurant on Anegada for dinner...the food was delicious. Then watched 'Heartbreakers' and made hemp with the shells we found on the beach.
Thursday 3/17 (St. Patty's Day) Cathy woke us all up at sunrise and made us eggs so we could sit out on the boat and watch the sun, it was beautiful. Sailed back to Tortola and went to Cane Garden Bay, very local-ist. Did some shopping and went to the market for more food. Cooked spaghetti on the boat for dinner, and then went back to the beach after. Got stalked by some local rasta boys and we were terrified but once we started talking to them they were really cool. Talked to a few kids about their culture and their school systems and it was amazing how much different everything is for them down there. They kept saying how lucky we are to be up here living the "American Dream" and after getting such a different perspective it really makes you think. so that was really cool.
Friday 3/18 Sailed to Jost Van Dyke (another island). Swam to a beautiful mini island off the coast of Jost Van Dyke and looked at shells and such. Then swam into a restaurant on Jost Van Dyke called the Soggy Dollar. Hung out there and then stayed at the beach for a long time. Swam back to the boat, cooked mac &cheese for dinner and then went to a famous bar called Foxy's for later that night. Foxy's was crazy but really fun, and dancing was fun too.
Saturday 3/19 Got up early and had breakfast at Foxy's (who knew bars served breakfast?). Went to the giftshop and bought some tshirts, then motored over to Pelican Island which has the Indians. The Indians are huge rocks jutting up out of the middle of the ocean and are surrounded by coral so we snorkeled there for a long time. Then we motored over to Normal Island and did some more snorkeling. Saw Bubby, my pal from Jost Van Dyke...since he followed us there! Gotta love having stalkers...went out to dinner at a pirate-themed restaurant which was really cute, then headed over to Willie T's, a bar that is a converted yacht. That was fun, but not as fun as Foxy's because it was an older crowd. Evan and I got t-shirts.
Sunday 3/20 Motored over to Virgin Gorda and the baths which are enormouis rocks that formed caves and you can walk through them and snorkel around them. They were so pretty the looked fake. But the tides were insane inside the caves and we almost lost some of our snorkeling gear. Also a crab tried to attack me and Marg. Scary. Sailed over to Spanish Town where we went to gifsthops and saw Caroline and Crary!!!!. SOOO weird! And so funny! That was actually really cool. Got milkshakes and went back to the boat. Motored back over to Trellis Bay at Tortola which is where we spent our first night, and went to a barbecue at de Loose Mongoose. Saw some of our friends from Willie T's which was actually really weird. And the guitarist there was playing with his teeth and behind his back...swear to god we saw the next Hendrix. Then headed back to the boat and everyone watched 'The Notebook' but I went to bed cause I was exhausted.
Monday 3/21 Got up and had a huge breakfast of pastries that Cathy got for us. Packed, and lay around the boat enjoying the last little bit of warmth. Then motored over to the island and dragged all of our stuff over to the airport and began the sad journey home...:( nothing about the return trip is worth writing about at all.
