looking at the bright side

Tales from the Steamworks chapter two is up here.

Quick update from my doctor's appointment. My left eye has severe degeneration characteristic of a 45/50 year old so that my blind spot will never go away. However, it's just a spot I'll grow accustomed to, and we're taking preventions so that it doesn't become more bothersome. I probably will go blind in my left eye before I die, but my right eye is very healthy!

We also finally discovered the source for my extreme eye allergies. I thought I was allergic to dust, mold, even cats... but it seems I have blepharitis, which is a fancy word for my eyelash follicles swelling up and making weird crusty stuff in my eye ball... I'm like allergic to my own eyelashes. I didn't even know that was a condition, and I actually laughed when the doctor told me. She gave me an eye wash that will help me with the symptoms. Blepharitis isn't curable, but it's also very manageable.

I'm actually quite lucky. My grandfather started showing eye degeneration symptoms because of his diabetes, and my mother feared that's what caused my eye shadow. Eye degeneration I can live with. I know so many others who live with worse things than a bum eye.

And on a random final note, I received information from the Japanese Consulate that they never received my information packet for their program to teach in Japan. It seems it was lost in the mail, so I won't be going overseas any time soon.

Unless I find a Tardis...

BUT. I was published in Georgia State University's Underground magazine. My story, Riding on a Bus Trip to the End of the World will appear in the first inaugural issue. *fistpump*
