Baby Rachel's LadyBug Cape

Oct 17, 2005 12:53

I finished this cape a few weeks ago, as some might remember from my drunken ramblings around the same time.... ;)

Here's a picture of the cape from the front and a closeup of the beaded ladybug.

I used some leftover satin from my still-in-progress Blood Red Dress and some black beads I already had in my stash. I quilted the lining in diagonals (a layer of batting and a layer of red satin), then basted the outer fabric to the lining (layer of red satin). I then quilted the ladybug design on the front before beading it. The edges are finished with double wide black bias tape and there are two black frog closures at the neck. To keep the outer fabric from slipping, I satin stitched a scrolling design around the cape in black thread.

The Happy Customer!

Do not be distracted by the glare off of my shiny forehead. ;)
